Pantano's Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Bathurst

After a long haul pulling a camper trailer from Canberra to Bathurst, I was definitely hoping for the Travel Gods to smile on me and make it possible to kick back, relax and enjoy a decent meal before eventually finding a camp spot for the night. About an hour out of Bathurst the iphone reckoned Pantano's was THE place to go, especially on their 2 for 1 Tuesday pasta and pizza offer. We phoned ahead to confirm all was good and rolled in around 8.15pm to be greeted by happy and helpful staff. Food - My partner being vegan can be a problem. Not so at Pantano's. Really tasty vegetarian pasta and vegetarian pizza with tons of ingredients. The pasta perhaps a tad oily but the flavour and presentation was amazing. Pizza was super tasty too.

Absolutely nothing not to like. Service 5 from 5. Food 5 from 5. Comfort 5 from 5. Atmosphere great. Value. The 2 for 1 was brilliant. So we ordered coffee and gave a decent tip to thank the girls serving and the cook, for looking after us. Parking .... Would be very good for most. However Bathurst is not set-up for vehicles like our 4x4 and a camper trailer. So you'd be in for a 10 minute walk, which...

I recently visited this restaurant for the second time, and I have to say, please don’t eat here. My experience was a complete disappointment.

First, we ordered two types of bread at the same time, and they arrived a whole 10 minutes apart. Then, we ordered two steaks of the same cut, and they only brought one to the table, claiming they forgot the second. After notifying the staff, it took another 10 minutes to receive the second steak, and when it finally arrived, one was warm while the other was obviously set aside to wait for it to cook—very unappetizing!

To make matters worse, I’m not exaggerating when I say that half of the steak was just fat. Additionally, one steak was served with the wrong sides, which is just unacceptable.

They also forgot my wine order, which was only brought out as I was about to pay. The service throughout was abysmal—rude cashier included!

To top it all off, I was charged for the wine, but I didn’t realize it until I was already driving off. Never again! Save your money and look elsewhere for a better...

I cant recall being more disappointed in what was nothing short of embarrassing by way of the 500gram Porterhouse steak served up to a number of our group tonight. Barely worthy of 'fish n chip' shop steak sandwich status, ordered medium rare, this 2-minute steak was lucky to be 10mm thick having been pounded to death on a bench, it came without so much of a splash of pink - let alone medium rare - it was joke. Such a cheap cut of meat, cooked not even remotely to order I couldn't have served it at all if it were me. All 3 were like it. Should've sent them all back. Seated 7.08pm - meals hit the table at 8.33pm. Our 500gr porterhouse was 3/10. The best rating on the table was a scotch fillet that scored 4-5/10. The beef ribs - king of the mountain was great. Huge and well cooked, but the steaks were just awful to the point I couldn't remotely entertain the thought...
