Our family of 5 went to dine in for breakfast today. Firstly they didn’t have a table to fit the 5 of us so they seated us at a 4 seat table. I didn’t mind that. The table hand not been cleaned yet but didn’t mind that as I understand they can be busy and there were only 2 waitresses working the whole Cafe, where at this time there were well over 25 customers seated. So the waitress cleaned our table and left us for a good 15-20mins with no menus or table water. An older couple came in and sat down on their table and were served their Menus and Table water straight away. But here we are still waiting and have nothing not even Menu’s. So my husband had to grab a Menu from the other table for us to look through. When the waitress walked past us again, with no intention of stopping at our table, I had to call out to her to ask for a Menu and table water. But she barely stopped and said ‘I know I know, we’re just busy’ I made it clear to her she had served the other couple who had just sat down and we still had nothing. She just replied with ‘yeah yeah’ and kept walking off, like it was just too much for her to serve us and we were such an inconvenience. As she came back with menu’s we were already getting up to leave. So we went next door to Nikki’s Cafe who served us as soon as we were seated. The customer service at Nikki’s Cafe was on point and the food was exceptional. We’re from Sydney and are on holiday in Bathurst. Luckily we had a great experience with Nikki’s Cafe. I can understand when cafe’s get busy but there’s a certain standard that you work by and making people feel unwanted and invisible. Not sure if it’s because we were islanders because the Aussie couple got star treatment first even though they got there 10mins after us. And if you’re so busy hire another waitress if you can’t handle the work. Never ever ever coming again. But will definitely recommend Nikki’s Cafe...
Read moreGenerosity and deliciousness are two qualities I esteem in a cafe/resto and Porter's Cafe have both in ample amount. I ordered a tall (pink) take-away flat white and the spanish omelette sans onion (I despise onions everywhere) with a side of hollandaise and one hash brown. When the coffee arrived (in good time too) it had heft and heat. [Chef's Kiss meme] And when the omelette came out (only about 7 minutes or less after the coffee), I actually, literally, sincerely exclaimed "Oh wow!" as the waitress placed it before me. That was my stomach and eyes and nose cheering for joy. Because it was generous beyond belief. And it was pretty. And the hollandaise was generous too. The lady said I could get a doggy bag should it exceed my capacity. I wanted to smash it but I also wanted to savour it. And capture it for posterity. I also had that "what if onions" thing I guess we all get when we ask for something we despise to be removed. Happy to report: no onions! This omrlette is delicious. There is a cadre of chirozo in it, no short-shrifting, and lotsa tiny toms that pop delightfully. Part way through the meal, I messaged my sister telling her that she and my broinlaw need to come here. Heck, I even told my mates in our WhatsApp group and they live in Brisbane, Australia, and Whichita, Kansas USA! And you can bet a Keno's worth of coin that I'll be telling the boys up at the RSL later th'sarvo. I mean, look at my face in that pic the waitress took: one happy Packer. I won't need to eat until dinner time. Thank you with all my heart and...
Read moreHave been going to Porters for a few years now. I order roughly the same item. 1 poached egg with mushrooms or hashbrown or spinach or the beetroot relish. Today I went with friends and I am embarrassed to say the least. Firstly I ordered a coffee which took nearly 20 minutes and they were not busy at this stage Then I ordered 1 poached egg mushrooms and 1 hashbrown. My meal came out with 2 poached eggs and 2 pieces or cheap nasty bread that I did not order and the mushrooms. I gave the girl the egg and bread I did not order and then realised I had not received the hashbrown. When I was able to get someone's attention I let them know I had not received the hashbrown. When paying I was charged $31.35 for my 1 poached egg, mushrooms and a hashbrown with my small strong flatwhite on almond milk. Will not be returning. Appalling prices for what we got. Certainly not worth a revisit. You can tell there is...
