Harry's is a gorgeous venue inside and out. The interior is filled with gorgeous antique pieces, art, books and a fireplace. It’s a cosy setting and perfect in the cooler months. We ended up sitting outside, but we were kept warm with the heaters and blankets provided on the chairs.
The service from their staff was impeccable! They were super friendly and such a pleasure to deal with from the moment we sat down to the time we left.
On weekends, Harry’s offer two lunch sittings and set price two or three course options. We went for two courses at $55 per person.
We ordered the ‘Duck Terrine with fig jam and sourdough’, ‘Pumpkin & Feta Arancini’ and the ‘Scotch Egg’ as the entree courses. Each of these dishes tasted absolutely delicious and was the perfect way to start our lunch. The Duck Terrine and Fig Jam spread together on the sourdough was a great balance of flavours. I usually eat duck parfait and I have it alone on bread but I think the terrine needed the sweetness of the jam. I am a huge fan of Arancini so no surprise, I enjoyed the ones they served up here. Crispy on the outside and soft and hot on the inside! Scotch Egg was really good too especially with the sauce! Perfect entree course for a cool winters day. It’s just such a hearty dish.
Next, came the mains. For variety, we ordered a chicken, beef and a pasta dish. I am not a huge fan of chicken but this was a delicious dish! The chicken was cooked beautifully, wasn’t dry and it paired well with the gorgeous, golden potatoes and what seems to be a cauliflower rice containing sweet cranberries. The beef dish was by far my favourite. It felt apart at the touch of a fork. It was tender and the mash it came with, was the smoothest and creamiest mash I’ve ever had. I was just so impressed by this dish! The pasta was a Blue Swimmer Crab linguine in a garlic, tomato, chilli and white wine sauce. Can’t go wrong with this combo and of course, it was a delicious dish, especially since the pasta was cooked perfectly.
Our plan was to stick to two courses but when I saw this poached pear dessert come out for someone else, I just had to make an order for it. It was definitely worth it! Amazing textures and flavours and the perfect way to finish what was a filling and...
Read moreBad Service, I booked at 7:00pm, when I do the booking, I can choose sitting inside or outside, however I never been here before and I don’t know their is no light or no one will sit outside for dinner. When I arrived, a lady said there is one table available inside, but it has been book at 8:00pm, if I want sit inside, I need to finish at 8:00pm. Also the outside area is close. They ask me to sit in cafe area, if any table free I can move to there. I said that’s ok, I can wait in there and if any table available I want sit in main area. However they ask me order and sit in cafe area, not waiting in cafe area. I told them I don’t want order now and move to another table when I start to having my food. I ask them can I sit at that empty table and if the 8:00pm customer arrived, they can arrange another table for them. They keeping reject me and said if I want to sit there I need to finish at 8:00pm. I ask why I can’t sit there, they said they have reservation, and tell me the other table will be available at 8:00pm, if I want sit in main area I need to wait until 8:00pm. I ask them why I can’t sit there, the 8:00pm customer haven’t arrived yet, as what they say, they will have available table before 8:00pm. They can’t answer, just saying I can’t sit there. To be honest, as a customer, I have reservation, and if the outside area is not available, they should not allow me to book outside, when I arrived for dinner, and they have available table, they should let me sit in there and arrange the other table for their reservation. I have been to many restaurants, I never had this experience, even I don’t have any reservations, all the restaurants will try to arrange a table whatever they are full or not. I will said the service is bad and I will not recommend anyone...
Read moreMy sister and I took a spontaneous trip to Bowral one Friday afternoon and this place was highly recommended by so many friends. It did not disappoint!
According to the website, Harry's was named after renowned English Nurseryman and Horticulturist named Sir Harry Veitch who sent out plant hunters all over the world to source and bring home 'exotic treasures' for his clientele. The interiors is an eclectic mix of all sorts of treasures from framed artworks, tapestries, plants and ornately framed mirrors. There is a huge wall full of shelves filled with books, with a doorway leading to an intimate dining space for 2 tables. There are also nods to English living with antique dovefailed furniture that appear to be from the 1800s. So charming!
Due to covid, bookings are essential. My sister and I booked for an early dinner at 6pm al fresco because it was a warm day but otherwise would have loved to eat indoors. The staff were so nice and accommodating, periodically checking in to see if we needed anything. The food itself was so delicious! Great flavours and tasted really fresh. We opted for a 2 course menu at $65pp and shared a dessert. I ordered the Crab Linguini while my sister had the crumbed Salmon on a bed of lentils. Dessert was the divine Bread & Butter pudding. Will 100% come back here to try other items...
