We waited for the food for 50 minutes, though they warned us of a 40 minutes wait after the order was taken. No mention of the long waiting times while taking us in. But thatās okay. But the food was not at all great. In fact, it was just okay. The bread used was hard that couldnāt be chewed. The burger patty was so oily and salty. The rice with Chicken curry and pappad also was bland. The Biriyani was also average. I would have given good ratings for this place, regardless of the long wait, if the food was good. Itās sad that the previous ratings are luring customers like me to this cafe but get cheated with the average food. Owners, please improve the quality and taste of the food. Otherwise, you guys are killing a good brand name.!
Addendum : Just adding few words after the reply from the owner. Glad to see the reply that they will make things better (the ownerās assurance of making things better was on the waiting times. Pl note, our review was mainly on the food). Yes, itās true that we didnāt complain, just because we didnāt want to. That doesnāt mean thereās no scope for improvement and we wanted to write a review to help those food enthusiasts. Itās just that the food was just average and we could finished it. Hope the owners will understand before...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe cafe has been sold since we last came in. I wasnāt sure what to expect. It will be very big shoes to fill as Allumer had genuine raving five star reviews. When starting off in hospitality business where there is a lot of exceptional competition, you must be willing to lose a little money at first to build rapport. You cannot cut corners or refuse to throw away food which is not in date. Advice would be to keep the exact same menu and standards of the old cafe, otherwise itās a bit of false advertising. Hospitality is not just a license to print money. It is an art form. One must strive to be one of the best, otherwise, itās not lasting. What some people do, is they buy a failing cafe or former cafe. They lose money for the 12 months or more. They establish a regular customer base. Then the business becomes highly successful, usually at about 3 years past the date of purchase. Just when itās at its peak, they sell it. Then they possibly move and do it elsewhere in a town where they know they are real competitive. Itās like a creative venture for people who crave the satisfaction of success in such a competitive...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe food was yummy and the hot chocolate was superb! The breakfast stack really did hit the spot! And the owner was lovely too š
However, as much as I would like to give them a perfect rating, I had to take one star away for the service. We went there on Anzac Day so totally understandable how busy places can get on holidays, with other shops closed. Im usually patient as I have worked at a cafe before and in retail, and when itās busy, it gets reaaaalllyyy busy. But the least you can do when serving customers is to be at least nice, right? It was very obvious that the server wishes to be someplace else on that day and after waiting for more than 15minutes for our drinks (it was my first coffee of the daaay), we followed up and only got an āthey will EVENTUALLY comeā answer. A little bit of smile or at least a nice acknowledgment when people ask your where their drinks are will get a looong way. I understand how servers get tired in situations like this, but please, dont take it out on customers who are just nicely asking for a followup on...
