Where café meets craft The Press Club is a Bespoke letterpress shop and integrated café in the stunning setting of Bowral in the Southern Highlands. Locally owned, they source and prepare quality food and focus on using small farmers, producers and local supplies and organic food in order to best highlight what the Southern Highlands region has to offer. With fruits and vegetables from Moonacres farm, Piccolo Farm, Highlands organics, Brillig Farm, Living Earth Farm Truffles from Robertson truffles, olive oil from white chapel grove, mushrooms from Li-Sun, meats from maugers and Robertson village butchery, eggs from Taulca Park, honey from the Honey Collector, this café really shows respect to their local area. Head chef Nathan West has put together a delightful menu using these fine ingredients, and the meals tasted so fresh and were absolutely beautifully presented on the plate. Lunch is served from 12 – 3. As we were in a group, we were able to sample a few of the menu items. We would describe this as simple food, done in a very elegant way, showcasing the skills and vision of an inspired chef. The Waffles were served at a nice lunch size, not overbearing like many cafés these days. Topped with a refreshing coconut sorbet, peaches, mint and a white chocolate crumble. This dish is vegan and dairy free. The local greens frittata was laid on the plate atop a goats curd and decorated with herbs and lovely thin slices of potato crisp. The potato gnocchi was incredible. Served with new season tomatoes, roast onion puree, vino cotto and herbs, this dish is perfect for everyone, including vegetarian and vegan diners. Something the males of your group will love (as well as anyone else) is the Taluca Pork free range Cuban Sandwich with pickles. Fresh bread, great meat and served cut in half with cheese and a side of cucumber and herbs. There’s also a roasted carrot dish, zucchini salad, beef brisket sandwich, eggs benedict and even a kiddies menu. I’m presuming this menu would change seasonally. Drinks wise, the coffee was great too. Speciality coffee, using beans from Cultivar, who source these from Ethiopia, Rwanda, and Costa Rica. You can have a regular milk based coffee, filter coffee, or a flavoured one like turmeric, matcha, velvet (beetrrot) or a hot choc. Organic teas, wild-grown herbal teas, house made iced tea, kobmucha and milkshakes are also on the menu. At the back of the café is a beautiful letter press shop selling handcrafted papers, cards and other lovely gifts. You can also see the letterpress machines and can understand the work that goes into making products of this quality in the old fashioned way. It’s lovely to see them preserving this century old art form. Come for a few meals, coffee and leave with a satisfied belly and a few handicraft purchases.

I have been wanting to visit this good looking cafe for sometime now. I was hoping that it would be worth my hour and a half drive south of Sydney. I did like the look of the cafe. It’s very European looking and has that European vibe, with the staff in all same attire. The white shirts and grey aprons always gives appeal to a cafe for me. I love the big wooden door that has been somehow curved to fit the entrance. That’s impressive. Some of the staff were smiling, while others must of had a bad morning, however, I was looked after accordingly and the food and coffee arrived promptly. I had the açai bowl, it did look good on some of the pics on social media, but unfortunately I found it too be too much açai and it did taste a little sour. I ordered an espresso and flat white. The espresso was good but I was a little disappointed with the flat white as I always look forward to latte art and didn’t get it. Apart from that, it tasted good. The coffee is from Gabriel Coffee, one of my favourite coffee companies. 8/10 So, was it worth the drive? Yes, I think it was overall. It’s always an experience whether you like a place or not. For me, apart from a few disappointments, I still think it’s worth another try. Coffeetonee 😉

Came here months ago for takeaway coffee and came back this morning for dine-in. I has the Press Shop Breakfast and a soy chai tea. Tea and food was normal, not really impressive. The mushrooms, however, was the star of the dish, beautifully cooked. I had wilted kale instead of roasted tomato and the kale was a disappointment, just plain blanched kale, no seasoning at all. Team could use better training and communication. The barista basically had to do almost everything, took order, made coffees, told staffs to take table orders and check up on customers, checked vaccinations status, etc. Guy was doing everything, while his team was chatting and didn’t have good awareness of their customers. 2 different waitresses came up to the same table 4 times to take their order, while they kept saying they were waiting for someone. I’ve been working in hospitality for years and one thing I know is that with the amount of customers you guys had today, there’s no need for that many staffs, just need better trained staffs.

If you’re planning a road trip to Bowral head to the press shop cafe. Lucky for the locals and impressive for tourist. You’re not going to find a better coffee than the press, they’re the best I’ve tasted in Bowral. The cafe is located on the corner Banyette Street and Bong Bong Street in a prominent location with large transparent windows looking into the busy cafe. The interior is brightly lit and warm in winter. Whether you dine in, takeaway, window shop you will enjoy the press. Staff are professional and friendly and service is quick. Didn’t get a chance to eat from the nice menu but did see the dishes beautifully plated and delivered to the customers. Definitely going back for breakfast or brunch to taste their mouth watering dishes. The cafe is pretty packed on weekends so you will need to head in earlier as they don’t take reservations.

Impressive from the trendy outside, you enter via a magnificent curved glass door into a spacious contemporary coffee shop and mini patisserie ... tables laid out in spacious arrangement. First impressions are similar to a Pattinson Bakery in Sydney or one of Melbourne's upmarket lane way coffee hangouts like Pellegrinis There is a light menu but we just called in for coffee after a lunch nearby. Coffee was served in takeaway cartons... on a saucer.. an idea we quite like as you get more coffee...or you could take it with you if you need to leave. But the coffee was very average... hardly Barista-style latte or cappuccino. Maybe we just got a bad day. And it was a bad day outside... just 5deg... and not very warm inside... Pleasant place, might be worth another try

The Press Shop was our first stop for brunch during our day trip to Bowral. Arriving at 9:30 AM on a Sunday, we were surprised to find a line, but our friends quickly secured a table for our group. A server promptly approached us to take our drink orders while we reviewed the menu. After a few minutes, we chose our dishes and flagged down the same waiter. Despite ordering our food soon after our drinks, there was a noticeable delay, and we nearly finished our drinks before the food arrived. However, the dishes were well-presented and generously portioned. The restaurant seemed understaffed, as it took about five minutes to pay our bill, requiring us to call the attention of the same waiter who had served us. Overall, still a delightful experience.
