百家千味 Glamorous Wok — Restaurant in Brisbane City

Glamorous Wok has been our favourite Taiwanese restaurant in the area for many years - this is NO longer the case after our latest visit.

Firstly, the food was ok. The fried chicken has always been solid and it’s still good quality. Everything else was pretty ordinary. The spicy stinky tofu was - neither stinky nor spicy - the taste could not have been further from its description. Sizzling beef was not much better from what you can get at any food court.

Then there was the service. I did not see one member of the staff smile throughout our meal. They all looked stressed, tired or uninterested. As soon as we were seated, we were reminded that we would have to return our table within 90 minutes (on a Monday evening that didn’t seem that busy at all). Our water glasses went empty for almost the entire meal without a refill. Finally, after I went to the counter to pay the bill and returned to the table, the staff had already taken everything away… even though I still had some beer in my glass.

The seating was cramped as if the restaurant wanted to cram in an extra table or two. Maximising profit at the expense of your customers’ comfort.

While I’m sure the profit is rolling in for the owner but you’ve just lost one of your long-term customers. I ain’t coming back… there are just so many better options...

The entire family and I went to Glamorous Wok yesterday after 5 years the first time we came here 5 years ago and the wife was pregnant with our daughter and now we came back with the whole family including the daughter that is 5 now and our son that is 2. I have to say nothing changed the atmosphere and the service and food still amazing. We ordered a table full of yummy food. We had fried rice 🍚 steamed fish sizzling beef and the best was bbq pork made like ribs the whole experience was and still amazing after being away for 5 years before covid after covid perfect a place you can take the whole family. The service for considering our kids needs were amazing we did not have to tell them they brought plastic bowls and cutlery for them and this was awesome. They gave them juice in the plastic takeaway cups 🥤 which was great no possibility to break anything I can keep going on and on. Now that I have finally reviewed this place we will always remember it and come back for thirds....

I spent over $140 there having New Year’s Eve dinner for two adults and two young children. The food and service was disappointing. They didn’t have the fish I wanted. The waiter suggested a more expensive one and he said it was more popular and other customers liked the barramundi more which was what he recommended it. I listened to his advice and tried it. Our whole family disliked it because it tasted like grass. The fish tasted nothing like it. Later, the waiter came to ask me about the taste and I told him the truth. He looked really guilty.

I remember the last a few times when I came here over the last a few years had been always disappointing. Even I can cook better at home. I told the receptionist politely about my experience at the end when I paid the bill, but I don’t think she will forward my feedback. I don’t think I will ever...
