wow who knew that one of the best Japanese spots i would find, would be in Sunnybank?!🥹🤩 @hana_zushi_sunnybank really surprised me with some incredible incredible dishes, what a feast we had!🤍
some of the things we ordered (cause all of them would be an essay🥲🤣):
✨deluxe sashimi platter ✨tempura prawn & salmon hand rolls ✨spiced beef & mentaiko chicken skewers ✨miso eggplant ✨fried oysters ✨wagyu with truffle sauce ✨chicken karaage ✨lobster salad ✨eel aburi roll & salmon and prawn roll
holy moly this was a feast of flavours🤤🤩 firstly, how stunning is the sashimi platter🥹ugh i couldn’t stop taking photos of it, so pretty! presentation was key at @hana_zushi_sunnybank and really added to the experience🤍super fresh fish sliced to perfection~
the skewers were so delish and packed with flavour! the mentaiko chicken one was so good! definitely a must order🤤🥰
oh my lord the truffle wagyu… i could have easily polished off a plate of my own, they do not skimp on the truffle and this blew my mind, i didn’t think wagyu and truffle could taste this good🤤🤩little cubes of heaven!
chicken karaage, wow okay. juicy juicy chicken lightly coated in thin batter, the best chicken karaage i’ve ever had, seriously. next level chicken✨👏🏻incredible dish!
the salmon and prawn roll was also too good! lightly seared salmon with tempura prawn in the middle, layers of deliciousness🤍
conclusion, i really recommend @hana_zushi_sunnybank some dishes here are a little pricey but for the quality, you sure get what you pay for🤤🥰do not miss out on this underrated Japanese spot in Sunny Park, some insanely good...

Our party of 5 decided to dine at Hana for an impromptu birthday dinner out. First impressions were good, the decor was elegant and the lighting created a funky atmosphere for the more special occasions. We were seated quickly but I hate to say it just went downhill from there.
Aftering awkwardly passing around our 2 menus we then tried flagging down a member of the waitstaff, which became apparent very early on that it was going to be difficult the whole night as we were going to be competing with their phones. Finally having placed our order and drinks we then hoped that the food will pull through for us instead. After 20 minutes our first dish came out and it was the 2 chicken skewers that we'd ordered along with everything else. It sat there sad and alone staring at the 5 confused people who were half trying to see if they should even attempt to share it and half waiting for the rest of the food to join it. Remembering that we had ordered drinks and a bottle of water for the table, I looked over to see if that was coming to help make our table less empty but no, Tik Tok was more important to our waitress.
The rest of our food came and I have to say was good and we would gladly have again but for a $180 bill the service was dreadful. Really was put off with waitstaff walking around glued to their phones like teens at home and the unprofessional attitudes. Shame, should've just stuck out that 45 minute wait for Sushi Edo across the street.
Was a 1 star but the food carried...
Read moreTLDR: The food looks great, but you can tell the quality isn't up to par for the prices they've set.
Ambience: Upon entering you're greeted with quite a dark yet gently lit dining place. The choice of dark woods used in much of the dining area gives a high class, though slightly dated feel. Then you sit down and your seat is obviously very old: the foam padding having given way years ago.
Service: The older Chinese lady taking our order was straight to business. The younger lady serving us was much more friendly and chatty!
Food: It looks incredible but you can tell that corners are being cut in quality.
The sashimi platter was stunning in presentation - the quality of the fish not so much. While ok, you could tell it wasn't the best.
Agedashi Tofu was great - the tofu held it's shape well, the batter was on point, and the dashi was seasoned perfectly.
Soft-shell crab - this was the highlight dish of the evening. Fried to perfection, and the use of fried garlic as a garnish was perfect.
The various sushi rolls we had were decent. Well made, with rice well seasoned. It's hard to go wrong with these.
The Shabu Shabu was average to say the least. The flavours were ok, lacking in complexity.
So overall, the evening was ok. The dining exprience was ok, but for the price you can find better Japanese...
