Overview A Night in India is a cool little Indian restaurant located in the heart of the Park Road dining strip in Milton.
Drinks They offer a great selection of beers, wine, and other liquors at reasonable prices. I enjoyed two bottles of my favorite Tiger lager, and my wife had a glass of pink Moscato. At $9 for a beer and $8 for a Moscato, that’s fair pricing, especially compared to some joints that charge $14 for a bottle of Asahi.
Food My wife and I dined on a Friday night, the last night of summer. Between us, we ordered a beef korma, a vegetable masala with tofu, and as accompaniments, the kachumber salad with cucumber, onion, and tomato, a mixed pickle, and naan bread. Rice is complementary and served as part of the curry deal, a nice touch when most places charge extra for it. Every dish was sensational. The beef was tender, sliced into bite-sized pieces and drenched in a delicious cashew nut gravy and the vegetables were fresh and tasty with a tangy chili flavor. The salad, pickle, naan bread and rice were the ideal accompaniments. We ended with our favorite gulab jamun dessert, the perfect way to finish the meal. It consisted of three firm, generous balls of sweetness in a syrupy sauce.
Service The service was fast, friendly, and efficient, despite the staff being busy with Uber Eats and other takeaway customers, which made it a bit of a challenge to attract their attention. Once we had their attention, things flowed quickly, with drinks and meals arriving after a short wait of less than 15 minutes. Our waitress was polite and friendly, and the owner-manager made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived.
Ambience This is a smallish restaurant with maybe 15-20 tables, but it's neatly set out with tiled floors, comfy upholstered chairs, and strong lighting in muted brown and beige color tones, giving it an nice vibe, ideal for a warm autumn evening. We sat indoors, but there were also a few outdoor tables available. Our table for two was large enough to fit all the dishes and drinks, and sitting by the window, we could look out onto the busy Park Road streetscape outside. However, it did feel a bit like a railway station with Uber Eats drivers and takeaway customers coming and going, which detracted a bit from the ambiance and made it less relaxed than it could have been.
Cost With a small tip, we paid $100 for three drinks, two main courses with rice, naan bread, pickles, a small salad and a shared dessert. With hyperinflation raging, that was good value for money, considering the high quality of the food, efficient service, and the overall pleasant atmosphere.
Toilets The toilets are located in the car park behind the venue, and there’s no need to get a key from the restaurant. They are shared among the cluster of restaurants in this area, with separate male and female facilities. They were reasonably clean and well-provisioned.
Parking There’s easy street parking and also a free car park behind the venue.
Summary We had a fantastic night at “A Night in India,” and everything went smoothly. Booking was a breeze through the restaurant’s website, and I received a confirmation quickly. The atmosphere was cool, the food was excellent and served in generous portions, and the service was fast, friendly, and efficient. Prices were modest. The only drawback, as mentioned previously, was the constant stream of delivery drivers and takeaway customers, which seemed to be a priority. Nevertheless, we’ll visit again, it...

Read moreWent along for dinner. Due to government health regulations we were given a one hour time slot 6-7pm, which was no problem for us. No doubt there would be a better atmosphere at other times of the year! I was looking forward to the meal as I was told this is one of Brisbane's better Indian restaurants.
Unfortunately despite the range of options on the menu we ran up against a few limitations. Our food order some how was confused and we ended up with two dishes with a lot more chilly than requested. I had said that I have an allergy to too much chilly and needed to be careful. After two mouthfuls my voice had gone to a mere rasp!! Quite a shock! My last to outings to Indian restaurants had not had this result. Seems our request for mild was reinterpreted for two dishes. I was offered a remake of one dish of my choice. The flavours of the dishes were ok but the meats were hard and tough, particularly the lamb and goat. The chicken was slightly better. Our entree mushrooms were cold and raw- maybe not in the fryer long enough from frozen!? See photos of these and other dishes.
Chutney was runny and uninspiring and the yoghurt was like a child's sweetened fruit style! The Butter Naan was warm and a good texture and as part of the banquet we could have as much as we wanted. Under guidelines we had to eat with plastic cutlery but all other utensils for communal serving was with stainless steel! Go figure? Water and wine from flimsy plastic made for a humorous spills as the 'cups' shifted while filming up and collapsed on pick up. Certainly an experience of a night out under the new guidelines! Not all that great but glad we had the adventure. Can't blame the restaurant for the health guidelines but thought the food left a lot...
