Makiya — Restaurant in Brisbane City

'OMG YES!'

I could leave the review here and be content in the knowledge that I have covered most of the key points as to why you should go to Makiya. Nevertheless, I feel it is my duty as one of those people who has no valid reason to be assigning a critical commentary on anything but dose anyway - #YOLO (yes I just did that)

Nevertheless, my life has changed since my first bite of my Chicken Curry Takeaway (we call your number when order ready).

It was an unexpectedly pleasant surprise to order something that looked slightly questionable but was actually quite wonderful - I got that feeling you get when you realize you're looking at Ty Burrell [Phil Dunphy in the ABC comedy Modern Family] and not a sadistic, homicidal maniac who, up until recently, was working as an accountant for a sellotape manufacture in the city but was laid off and had started to live an increasingly reclusive life where he spent his down-time stalking albinos and watering his mushroom collection with a spray bottle.

If you do decide to go to Makiya though, you should be prepared for a cue of 15 to 20 people strong although most of them are corporate-hipsters who wear knitted ties and vintage shoes - they tend to eat sushi so they are in and out in less time than they spend in the shower for the year.

The price of sushi is actually really good as well - and freshly made. Its such a popular destination that the food is always reasonably fresh.

You should deffs go though - and if the line is too full of pretentious people Tweeting and discussing independent Australian hip-hop artists, there is a subway...

This is … hands down … the best chicken katsu (and I am going out on a limb here) in whole Queensland. You will experience great service, friendly owners and delicious and freshly made food. I come here since 5 years (not as often anymore since my work is somewhere else) for lunch and I’ve never been disappointed. So… give it a try. :)

Update: Been eating here since many years and just had lunch here today. I am glad to report the Chicken Katsu is still outstanding. I'd give 6 stars...

Incredible food and the staff is always extremely friendly and helpful. Their lunch specials are very cheap, delicious and have large serving sizes! I also really love their sushi, definitely my favourite in the area.
