Amici Deli — Restaurant in Brisbane City

I visited Brisbane with a bunch of mates for a bucks party in November 2017, and on the last day we stopped at Amica Deli just after 10am.

We all had breakfast from their cafe, and it was delicious. They have a large range of foods and coffees - I had a chocolate thick-shake and a Ham and Cheese Croissant. I found the food to be extremely filling, and alo very tasty. The others in my group ad ordered more-complex dishes which took more time to prepare, and with 17 customers suddenly turning up unannounced towards the end of breakfast, the staff were a little busy with our orders.

The staff were extremely friendly and personable, joking and chatting with us as we ordered. The owner came out and provided us with 2 free share plates of a sweet pastry treat as thanks for our patience while we were waiting.

I would come here again if I was to visit...

Although this place looks nothing from the outside it has loads of atmosphere inside. It combines an Italian style delicatessen with a small cafe and gelato bar. It's great to browse the items in the deli while waiting for your coffee. I had a kids breakfast, very non traditional, but it was well cooked with the fried egg having warm, runny yolk. My flat white was flavoursome. My dining partner had a vanilla shake served in an old fashioned aluminium milk shake container, and a ham and cheese croissant, which featured fresh ham off the bone. Only got two cannolis one chocolate and one pistachio. At first I thought these were very good and the shell was very fresh, crunchy and not soggy at all! Unfortunately the filling is where these absolutely fall off a cliff. Not using the traditional filling of ricotta was extremely disappointing. The chocolate cannoli seemed to be filled with chocolate moose and the pistachio was definitely custard. I understand these are flavours Australians will definitely be familiar with but I really didn't appreciate how unauthentic this was.
