I ordered a babyccino for my son, the curly dark hair lady with glasses served us. She placed my order as cappuccino with oat milk, and she told she can't cancel it, just take it as it is and walked away. I told her briefly the detrimental impact of caffeine on developing front cortex, thus please change my order, Then she placed a doggyccino with oat milk and said they are the same thing. I found that quite insulting, again I insisted please change it to what I ordered. Then again, she told me she can't change it impatiently and abruptly, and repeatedly telling me they are the same thing (the price is also different).
Throughout the whole ridiculous conversation, she didn't not apologize for any inconvenience that have caused. I simply find any semantic or prosody similarities between babyccino and cappuccino with oat milk. I can't help but find that insulting and targeted as a minority race. Especially she changed her attitude completely towards the next caucasian customer. So transient and swift that faster than the onset of bipolar.
There is substitute for almost everything, especially so for a babyccino. However, it is the adequate customer service add to the distinctiveness, thereby poor service can have a profound negative effect on customer experience and retention.
Therefore, my son and myself were treated differently based on our racial identity, which consistent with the definition of racism. In fact, this is the first racist experience my son, who is less than 2 years old encountered. Toddler has emotions too, just lacking the ability to express emotions but doesn't mean that he can't feel. Any negative emotions will internalize and manifest in terms of behavioral problem. He is always excited about his drink and yet he didn't enjoy his drink and became upset and irritable afterwards.
I am sure every decent parent would not appreciate this. It's the accumulated small things in every social interaction makes who we are, reflecting the neighborhood we live in, is this the lesson we teach our...
Read moreMy husband Hugh and I decided to break free of our usual Newstead haunts and take a little Saturday morning adventure over the river to Bellissimo Coffee Bulimba. We arrived in true brunch hour fashion—peak time—with a queue to match. But don’t worry, darlings, this place had a buzz that told us we were in the right spot.
Now, let’s start with the chaos at the gate. The “please wait to be seated” sign was more decorative than instructional, and we watched in mild horror (and major side-eye) as a fresh-faced couple blithely bypassed the queue and seated themselves inside like brunch royalty. The doorman could have done a better job of the queue and when tables became available.
We scanned the barcode to order coffee while we waited—which, let me say, is a genius touch for streamlining the process. After a bit of a wait and an awkward “is anyone waiting?” from staff (as we stood there clearly waiting), we were whisked to a counter seat facing the kitchen. A bit meh, so we asked to move. To their credit, we were relocated quickly and staff kindly rerouted our order to our new table.
Now onto the hero of the morning—the food! My waffles were divine, crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and served with a flair that made me feel like the main character. Hugh’s corn fritters were spot-on too. The coffee? Bellissimo! Just as the name promised.
Despite being packed and full of hard surfaces, the noise level was surprisingly manageable. Conversation flowed, and I didn’t have to shout over anyone’s smashed avo. The decor? Very chic. I adored the hanging greenery and thriving peace lilies—a soft touch to the industrial edge.
Would we return? Yes. Would we bring a little more patience and maybe a coffee to the front-of-house team? Also yes.
All in all, Bellissimo Bulimba delivers on taste and ambiance, just needs a tighter rein on...
Read moreBellissimo Coffee Bulimba is a cafe situated in a modern suburb in Bulimba. This place was recommended by a friend and we decide to come here as it was close to the apartment we were renting. Be warm that on Saturday and Sundays morning the cafe gets really busy and there is a queue to be seated. I recommend going on week days as the cafe is significantly less busy. The cafe has two seating area and outside and an inside which has Air-conditioning unlike outside. The waitress and the staff were friendly and even the kitchen staff greeted us as we walked into the cafe.
The cafe has received Australia's highest awarded coffee roaster. We ordered a cappuccino and an ice latte and they were really good compared to many other coffee places. We then ordered a variety of dishes including eggs Benedict with smoked salmon very yummy and has all the components that make a good eggs Benedict. Smash burger which was really juicy and flavour full. I didn't order any sides so the plate did look abit sad and empty, if the dish would have come with a complimentary success of fries I would have been very pleased. Next the Avocado on toast which tasted alright and was the ordinary avocado on toast I would have expected. We also ordered a caramel milk shake which tasted fine probably vanilla ice-cream milk and caramel syrup and not actual caramel. A smoothie as well which was rich and thick.
The seat we were at did however have alot of flies flying around throughout our meal which was really irritating. The QR code was also very hard to be scanned by our phone and only worked with 2 out of the 4 phones present at the table. Other than that the inside was also very nice.
If you're looking for a relaxing morning breakfast or brunch come...
