Dear Owner,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the service I received at Darvella Patisserie on 27/1/24 during my recent visit.
My friend and I visited the establishment to enjoy a cup of coffee and spend some quality time together before my friend's departure. I brought my dog with me, a faithful companion for the past six years as the cafe was identified as a pet friendly cafe.
Unfortunately, the visit took an unexpected turn when a member of your staff, who later identified herself as the manager, approached our table. Instead of addressing the matter politely, she began admonishing me for bringing my dog out in the heat. I understand the importance of animal welfare and assure you that I am a responsible pet owner who prioritizes the well-being of my dog. I found her approach to be confrontational and lacking the professionalism one would expect from a managerial position.
Despite my attempt to address the situation calmly, the manager continued to argue with me, stating that she cared more about the dog than about my experience as a customer. This not only created a hostile atmosphere but also made our visit incredibly unpleasant.
I believe that customer service is a crucial aspect of any business, and the treatment I received contradicted the values of a reputable establishment. The manager's dismissive attitude and refusal to address the issue appropriately were disappointing and, frankly, unacceptable.
As a result of this encounter, my friend and I left the premises without consuming the food and drinks we had ordered, as the experience had become untenable.
I sincerely hope that you take this feedback seriously and address the matter appropriately. I believe in the importance of constructive criticism for the improvement of services, and I trust that you will take the necessary steps to ensure a more positive experience for future customers.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to hearing about the actions taken to rectify...
Read moreTLDR; Good, will recommend trying I came here today to try the dubai chocolate croissant- staff were quick and pleasant to interact with. Appearance- I think the presentation of the pastries are pretty decent, and they're incredibly generous with topping and filling. Value for money- As mentioned above, they are incredibly generous with toppings and fillings, I believe this place is really fairly priced. Taste/texture- For the dubai chocolate croissant, I am of the opinion the taste is pretty much spot on- It's not insanely sweet like some other places doing dubai chocolate stuff and the croissant itself is flaky and buttery. However, I feel like the filling of the croissant is a little on the soggy side- some bites I get a good crunch but other bites I get soft kataifi pastry. What I think may be happening is the kataifi pastry might not have been toasted enough/toasted evenly which results in it becoming a bit soggy later on. The good part about the filling is the ratio of pistachio cream to croissant- i can see it providing a good balance between the crunchy pistachio topping, the flaky croissant and if the kataifi was more crunchy, that too. Their cinnamon buns are honestly the most tender, moist and yummiest ones ai ever had in my life. I would come back here simply for the cinnamon buns alone, they're worth the trip. Staff- There was a staff named Araya, who i told about my above feedback on the dubai choc croissant, she gave me a couple of their cinnamon buns to try. I really appreciate how receptive the staff are to the feedback and my experience here has been amazing. I hope anyone who was on the fence about coming here has decided to come here now :)
I wish the best for Darvella...
Read moreA relative newcomer to the Bulimba St food scene, Darvella Patisserie delivers the baked goods, including what's now my favourite almond croissant in Brisbane.
Our order: Vanilla cream donut Almond croissant Pork sausage roll Iced coffee
Didn't note individual prices but the sausage roll was $7.50 and the total bill $25.38, so around $6 each for the other items + 1.5% CC surcharge.
The almond croissant was pretty large, with a nice pastry and lots of frangipane - the most generous of the ones I've tried. The frangipane was also wetter than others, almost like a jam? Made for a very nice overall package and a standout favourite almond croissant to date.
The sausage roll was also a bit special, with the filling being fairly different to most store bought ones, many of which can be on the dry and more solid side. This one felt more home cooked, was moist and had a softer texture but still good bite and importantly flavourful. Wrap this in some lovely flaky pastry and you've got another winner.
The donut was no slouch either, with a nice amount of filling that wasn't not overly sweet, giving you nicely balanced mouthfuls - not too many of those required to devour this thing!
So, 3 out of 3 winning picks means I'll be back for sure when I next have an opportunity to head out this way. There are some discounts for multiple item purchases (6 donuts for $30, 4 croissants/pastries for $20) - these would be great for sharing (tempted as I was to get them for ourselves).
NB. there's limited dine in tables/seats, but no...
