An excellent walking path from Tennerrife Ferry past the Submariners Walk with its photos and brief history of Brisbane's role in the Second World War. The Brisbane River was one of two submarine bases during the War where American subs were serviced and restocked. There's also a memorial for those that didn't return. We tend to think of those sailors and soldiers as old men but we forget that they were mostly kids, 18 years old or not much older patrolling our shores and attempting to keep Japanese and German raiders from attacking our shipping . Submariners Walk commemorates those kids that manned those vessels and those that simply disappeared without trace.
