Eat at Billys — Restaurant in Brisbane City

Had this place recommended to me so I dropped in to try it out. Perhaps having it hyped so much before I arrived was part of the problem.

I ordered the Billy Cheese Steak. It cost me $26. When I saw the price, I thought, wow, this is going to be a hell of a meal.

It wasn't. I wish I'd taken a photo, but I was hungry and in a hurry so I just ate it and moved on.

It was small, way too small for $26. Part of the hype I was fed was the sandwiches were huge. This thing was about 2/3 the size of a good Bahn Mi.

Meat was so hot I think maybe they are microwaving their food, but that is speculation.

The overall product was fine, I ate it, but it was not a taste sensation, it was not a portion sensation. It was just a $26 sandwich.

I’m saddened as this had been on my “to try” list for ages, wanted to record a review but it seriously wasn’t worth it. Any flavour review hyping this place up I would say is a fake review, the meat where blanked next to no taste, we tried multiple items so it wasn’t just a “bad dish” we had the; “big Pauline” “Hog dog” “The butcher” “Double fried chicken tenders”

All cost over $20 each The only one with a flavour worth note was the hot dog, everything else was seriously tasteless, the servicing sizes for 20$ are just a waste of your money at that point. Chips were good, chicken tenders were dry and just lacking everything as well.

I’m beyond disappointed, not worth your travel time only worth...

#iykyk this butcher x sandwich shop is so yummy!! We visited @eatatbillys and had their Not a 🤬 Reuben, The Butcher (steak) and Big Paulie (porchetta) and they are all so amazing 🤩

Kiddo was also very veryyyyy interested in their butcher shop @meatatbillys - I think he wanted to buy the whole shop home! 🤣

Funny thing- Brisbane must love their artisan water (cos their tap water taste like 💩), so there are a lot of fancy water for sale- like this one from @born_dry in a can…🤯🤯🤯 I was trying to get some bottled water for us, the staff at the counter go “sure just get it in the fridge” but all I could see is (what I thought was) craft beer/ cider- turns out one of those cans are...
