Tucked away in the little Rosalie Shopping Village, this donburi specialist boasts an extensive dondon menu with something for everyone! 🤗 . Our orders: ~ Kaisen Don ~ Wagyu Steak Don ~ Grilled Duck Don ~ Chicken Katsu Don ~ Crispy Eggplants Chips Tower ~ Yamato beer on tap 🍺 . As our dishes started to come out, we were definitely smiling, seeing how good it all looked and smelled. The Kaisen Dons, were loaded up with various fresh sashimi pieces - with the scallops being the stand out and tasting freh and sweet 👌🏻👌🏻 . The Duck Don looked just as impressive with loads of duck pieces and a generous serving of the Charred Brussel sprouts. The duck pieces itself were tender and the Brussel Sprouts gave the dish a wonderful grilled flavour ☺️👍🏻 . My Wagyu Don was pretty epic too. Each piece was a marble score of 7-8+ and combined with the teriyaki butter rice, it was next level amazing 🤤😇 . Even the Chicken Katsu Don was amazing! The chicken pieces were crumbed perfectly and still tender and juicy inside! My little nephew definitely rated them cos he smashed through it (even though he’s normally a bit off a fussier eater) 😅 . Attended Powerhouse Night Feast and was so excited to have had Uncle Don on the selection list of restaurants as I'd heard good things. Placed my order via the app. 10 minutes....20 minutes...30 minutes...40 minutes...All of my party got their food and chowed down, I checked my order progress which showed an apology and that they were experiencing some delays. Eventually I walked to the stall to request a refund. I understand that it gets busy in such environments but my god, the service was abysmal. The gentleman who half arsedly greeted me asked for my name and then pointed to a plate, that I assume had been sitting there for at least 30 minutes and remarked "we've been waiting for you". I mentioned that id not been notified and their app daid the food was being prepared. No acknowledgement for the lack of notification or wait time, just a "we've been waiting for you" remark followed by him handing me a cold dish and turning to the next customer. Again, I understand that these events can be chaotic, but my god, indulge your customers in a little more customer service! Such a dissapointment considering if heard good things about the joint. Will not be attending the Paddington venue...

Despite the promising reviews, Uncle Don unfortunately didn't live up to the hype. While the food was decent, it wasn't worth the high price point.

The Grilled Buta Don, featuring marinated pork, was a letdown. The meat served was predominantly fatty, with only a small sliver of lean meat. This imbalance affected the overall enjoyment of the dish.

Although the Potato Curry had its merits, the presence of overpowering wasabi mayo overshadowed its flavors. The mayo's strong taste somehow managed to disrupt the overall harmony of the dish, resulting in a disappointment rather than a culinary delight.

To add to the disappointment, the Baked Cauliflower with Miso Cream turned out to be excessively oily and salty.

For the price, I would prefer dining elsewhere for similar quality and a more satisfying meal.
