Guzman y Gomez - Toowong Village QLD 4066 on October 27, 2023, around 3:20 p.m. I got two standard nachos. My boyfriend and I were at the table when the meal was served. We were really aback by how little the bowl was. I returned to the desk order to inquire about the size. The personnel explained everything to me, and I realised what I purchased was correct. When we first started eating. On the dish, I discovered blonde hair. I attempted to remove it from the plate, but my partner stopped me. We quickly summoned a member of the staff to assist me. She inquired if I wanted new Nachos or a money refund at the time. I informed her that I would prefer a new one. 5 minutes later, a staff member named Stefanie arrived at our table and informed us that she had made the plate and that it would be charged to her and that it was unusual for a hair to be on the plate. Because she had made the plate even odd, I had earlier inquired about the plate's size. It piqued her interest. That made no sense to her and suggested that it had been placed there on purpose by someone else. In that circumstance, I emphasised to her that neither my partner nor I had placed that hair there, and that implying otherwise was impolite. When she returned to the kitchen, the new plate was delivered three minutes later. I couldn't eat my meal since I was thinking about this issue. I was heartbroken. I summoned a member of staff and asked him to contact the supervisor. Stefanie startled me by reintroducing herself as the establishment's responsible supervisor within a few minutes. That meant I wasn't going to see objectivity. This was the case. Because she maintained your point of view and became more stubborn. Saying that it was a strange situation for her and that she had already identified cases where clients came in hoping to acquire an extra dish. I told Stafanie that I would file a complaint about her disrespectful attitude towards a client. It was a really uncomfortable situation for me, being accused of something I had not done, something that goes against my ideals as a citizen. I hope Guzman Y Gomez can rectify the situation and that this does not happen again with...
Read moreThe food was 4/5 stars. I’m giving it 3 stars for making me feel like such a sucker.
Let me explain. I had a pretty bad Mexican experience last week, so I was craving it a little. Guzman y Gomez, for what it is, is good. Don’t go there if you want the best Mexican you’ve ever had. It’s a fast food joint that makes its food at a consistent level. I always enjoy my beef burritos there. If I feel like a cheap snack, I’ll buy the $5 corn chips and guacamole. I just can’t get enough of that guacamole!!
So why 3/5 you ask? Because this particular time we say “YOLO! Treat yo self!” We splurged on the $7.50 for the large guacamole with corn chips to go with our food. As I wait for my meal, having already packed the tangy jalapeño and chipotle sauces that I love so much, I watch staff do their thing. One of the staff member packs my guacamole, puts the lid on, then SLAMS it on the bench several times. It dawned on me, this is how they make those containers of guacamole look so damn full. I was actually pretty impressed, I always felt like I was getting my money’s worth due to this little technique, that literally cost nothing extra to do. I still think I get my money’s worth with the $5 pack.
But I didn’t get a $5 pack this time. This time, I went all out. So when I get home, I SLAM the container on the base...and the magic was over, leaving me feeling like a sucker for paying an additional $2.50 for the extra guac. $2.50!! Don’t be a sucker like me. Save your $2.50, and buy yourself...
Read moreAt the Toowong store, for some reason the staff at the kitchen or counter do not call out the order number or name once the order has finished being prepared. Instead they would just leave it on the kitchen counter that is inaccessible to customers and wait for us to go up and ask every single time whether our order is ready. This happens even after I've asked them once so they already know what order I am after, leaving me to wait an extra few minutes and then ask for my order again. This would be helped if the order is left around the bench next to the counter where it is accessible by customers so that we can check the orders and pick ours up when it is ready, however unfortunately this is not the case.
This is a massive time waster and completely outside the norm of other GYG branches and other fast food places. It has caused us so much inconvenience that for many times it has made us unwilling to dine at the restaurant and chose to dine at other options. It really doesn't take much effort to call out the order number when it is ready so this behaviour makes absolutely no sense at all. Food is okay but this behaviour is a big reason not...
