My first ever experience at a French restaurant is one that I only have positive memories to take away after I left.
The food was a good as it gets and I loved the presentation of it.
I had the Escargot L 'Alsaciennce (Snails) Salmon Tarte Flambee & the Poulet A La Crapaudine (Chicken Spatchcock)
The host Arvid was extremely professional and extremely friendly as well.
He did an amazing job explaining the items on the menu and their history, helped me out a great deal when making selections and I was able to learn a lot more about French cuisine thanks to him.
I also got to speak with him quite a bit through the night about Europe, every day life and even Star Wars.
Thank you so much for the wonderful evening, I will definitely come back for more :)
2nd Visit
Not surprised that Arvid has worked at 5 star hotels and restaurants before after the customer service I experienced today was truly exceptional. Not that there was anything wrong with my last visit but my perception today was raised even more after he let me know a bit more about his past working experiences. I very much appreciated the hospitality again today :)
Birthday Dinner Haig Rd Bistro
I wanted to give my experience a 10/10 but wasn't able to because I asked for candles on my dessert but didn't get any.
I was given the all time classic sparklers instead 11/10.
Cote De Boeuf is an amazing piece of meat, medium rare, it was so easy to cut/slice, definitely like a hot knife through butter, excellent stuff.
Crepes Suzette for Dessert, my taste buds didn't want to enjoy the grand mariner sauce to the fullest but I made sure to eat it all anyway, no complaining just eating.
Spanish cheese for the Fromage Du Berger cheese platter, it was really good, enjoyed the variety of fruits that accompanied it.
Arvid being the great Maître D' as always throughout the night was also kind enough to lend me an umbrella, it was still raining and was getting even heavier.
I got home safely after enjoy a wonderful night.
See you...
Read moreI went with a large group on Saturday night not knowing what to expect. Dining here was an unbelievably fun, delicious, and easy breezy experience. I believe it was the owner/chef who came to our table and asked if we had any questions after explaining a few things on the menu and making a few jokes.
I was first to arrive and I ordered a French Martini right off the bat. It came out very quickly and all the drinks all night did, even with a full restaurant! The bartender did a brilliant job, always consistently delicious cocktails, and i did ask if i could have something jazzy for my birthday and he nailed it! It looked and tasted so fantastic that another person at our table ordered it for themselves.
The wait staff are some of the best I've ever encountered. They're like quiet floating speedy gazelles. They were so beautifully happy, friendly and informative and they did move around like stealth humans. Always bringing drinks and clearing the tables swiftly and quietly. It was enjoyable interacting with them. All staff there are honestly so lovely and great at their jobs. The owner should be proud of them and whomever was smart enough to hire them.
Lastly, the food. DIVINE! I have had escargot before, so I went for the cheese souffle, the barramundi with potatoes and zucchini, and the sort-of pavlova dessert. We also ordered some mussels as extra. Good Lord, every course was a taste sensation. It really showcased simple French cuisine at its best. Few ingredients, maximum flavour. This was a talking point at the table. It's a real food experience, for lack of a better term. Just skill, the right fresh ingredients and I daresay BUTTER yum yum lol.
Would recommend this to everyone. I'll be...
Read moreToday I shall wax lyrical. We went out last night for our first time to Haig Rd. Bistro, for a catch up with 2 good friends we had not seen for a while. This little gem of a restaurant is really amazing. It is like a quick excursion to France and Europe. Where to start? Albeit full to the brim, the ambiance was lovely and the impeccable service managed adeptly by Arvid was amazing.
By wife started with a Nosferatu gin with blood orange and salted grapefruit, my gin martini was perfect. We had lovely fresh oysters and twice cooked souffle with truffle as starters - amazing. Mains were steak - cooked to perfection from what I could see, gnocci - light as a feather, and I and my friend's partner had the duck with spaetlze. All amazingly cooked, authentic French and arrived on time.
The wine list is superb and not overpriced, all portions not too large or small and one cannot fault this establishment.
For dessert - we had 2 x crepe suzette and a chocolate parfait. Please - do visit this amazing restaurant for a quick trip to France - be on time! We definitely shall...
