Nestled in the heart of South Brisbane, this café is a true local gem—buzzing with community spirit and clearly loved by the neighbourhood. It’s the kind of place where you feel the local vibe the moment you step in, with a lively, creative atmosphere and various community projects on display that give it an extra layer of charm.

I dropped in just before closing on a Sunday and was genuinely impressed by the service. Even though it was right before the kitchen was about to close, the staff kindly let me place an order—and I was so grateful for that. It’s the kind of thoughtful gesture that really sticks with you.

The food was absolutely delicious, and the coffee was equally impressive—rich, smooth, and clearly made with care. Whether you’re in for a full meal or just a quick coffee break, this spot delivers both quality and warmth.

With its welcoming vibe, great service, and top-notch food and coffee, it’s no surprise this café has become a favourite among South Brisbane locals. Definitely worth a visit if you’re...

Perfect is the only word to describe my experience this morning! I found the coffee menu a little confusing but the staff were wonderful and helped me work through it (I’m not a local). I got a seasonal food item and it was amazing. French toast at its finest, not too overly sweet, with all elements working together in perfect harmony. From the few places I’ve had coffee over the last few days this is my favourite so far. Coffee was smooth & flavoursome. On top of all these positives, Hope St Cafe is doing additional work to support the community, so I’m so happy to know my having breakfast here has helped someone else in some way :D Give this place a go if you are...

Coffee was good. Can't comment on the food as we didn't receive it. Staff somehow forgot our order/lost the docket even though there was only 1 other customer at the time of ordering.

Staff brought us knives and forks and water, came and the same staff who took our food and coffee order even asked us how everything is going. After 20-30 minutes of waiting and nothing coming we had to accept a refund as we had an event we now wouldn't make.

Some of the staff seemed new and inexperienced. Hopefully their awareness improves during...

The food is delicious and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Candace is wonderful—so friendly and accommodating! We love that they have a positive mission of fostering social and economic inclusion, offering paid employment and training funded by the government. Added bonus for young families: There are books and games for kids to keep them occupied while you enjoy your meal. Highly recommend a visit!
