Edit. After posting this review after three no responses, Rick accused me of posting multiple reviews under fake names instead of responding to my criticism. This is untrue. Pretty unprofessional response to criticism and I have downgraded my review to one star to reflect this.
OG review. Went with a group of ten for a celebration. We got the $35 per head unlimited feed. Nice ambience and friendly staff. With the exception of the corn entree which was delightful, and the jackfruit in the stew and the tacos which was very well prepared, the food was salty to the extreme. The cocktails and even donuts were salty. I was planning to have several cocktails and didnt even finish one. The homemade nacho chips were extremely hard, most joked you could break a tooth on them. Overall, although the food was unlimited, we certainly didn't each eat $35 worth of food off the menu. You're better off ordering a la carte because it was a waste of money. Another issue is that food was served with little thought of logistics. Stew would be served in a single plate and all we had were flat plates (that weren't even changed in between messy dishes) to serve it on to. Donut balls were served without utensils, not even toothpicks. It was a huge let down and really sad to have friends message me afterwards "don't worry about the food, we had a good time". Not what you want to hear when you picked the place. I passed the feedback on to Rick immediately after via email and he promised to get in touch. It's been over a week and he has stopped replying to email and text, no sign that he plans to respond to the feedback which was very disappointing. Didnt want to leave a bad review because I like the concept of the restaurant and it's new but not sure what else I could do except get in touch. Of the group of ten, noone liked the food or would come back, and there were several vegetarians who are used to this kind of food so it wasn't really an issue of personal taste. Would...

The menu at El Planta is truly inspired, featuring a diverse range of dishes that showcase the versatility and deliciousness of plant-based cooking. The large share plate and Tacos were so incredibly delicious and filling that we didn't even get to fit in dessert! ( Next time:)) They were also very understanding of my niece who couldn't handle the spice in the "fish" tacos, so they remade it without the spices and she inhaled them!
El Planta is a must-visit destination for foodies looking to explore the world of plant-based cuisine. The staff and food are both incredible, and the philosophy behind the food is truly inspiring. I can't wait to come back again with my family and try more of their delicious dishes!
Tip: Parking can be a little tricky so you may need to drive around for a bit until you find a park. You must try the delicious Margaritas! AMAZING or one of their delicious skin contact wines. You could also leave it to them and let them surprise you! Make sure you...

POSITIVES Lovely waitress, very kind and understanding of dietary requirements. Loved that it wasnât trying to replicate the flavour of meat, but rather vegan alternatives. Drinks were fantastic and well priced. Ordered 2 homemade sodas (lime ($6) and hibiscus ($7)) and 2 non alcoholic mocktails (Mexican punch ($9) and the pineapple marg ($12)).
NEGATIVES We did the âBanqueteâ which is 3 starters, 2 mains to share and 1 dessert to share. For a total of $100 ($50pp), our food costs only came to a total of between $80-$90 ($9 for Tostadas, adobo beans (not on online menu, estimating $15), Papas ($15), Calabaza ($17), a jackfruit taco ($18) and Mousse de Chocolate ($14)). Portions are on the smaller side, and not adequate to share, one dessert between 2 people is not fulfilling, especially after the disappointment of a dinner. They provide stools which offer no back support and are uncomfortable after an hour and a half. If sitting outside, the ambience of the restaurant is disrupted by residents of the appt building in the shared entrance. For Mexican food the flavour was lacking and for the most part indistinguishable between items. Toppings were the same for each menu item (pickled onion, carrot, cabbage or lettuce). Our tacos had lukewarm pumpkin and the texture was off. We understand the rush of working in a restaurant, but lukewarm bordering on the edge of cold, food is just not appropriate. Flavour combos have the potential to be nice but is not fully explored. Any flavour there is was overpowered by how oily they were.
