I had tonkatsu. It was fine. I'm accustomed to authentic Japanese food. So it's a little difficult for me to rate the food highly. There was nothing wrong with the dish. Just a little unusual compared to the tonkatsu you'd get in Japan. Or tonkatsu prepared by a Japanese chef. Pork wasn't super juicy. It was slightly dry. But tasty nonetheless. The cabbage was a bit thick and difficult to eat. Kind of like if cabbage was spaghetti. Usually the cabbage is a lot more fine and not as long. Pickles were a bit small. A few more of a decent size would be nice. Rice was ok. I'd assume it's Australian rice. So not much that can be done to improve that. Miso was definitely not the best. Very weak and nothing inside. No seaweed, spring onion etc. Just water and a tiny dob of miso. Not sure if it was packet miso? For choice of tonkatsu in Brisbane it's probably alright. Good enough for most Australians. I gave 4 stars for food. But realistically it's 3.5 stars. Service is good and it's a nice place to dine. It's just not premium though. Sorry. But I guess that's a relative term isn't it? Premium for Australian diners. Hmm. Anyway. To anyone that read this far. Please be aware this is not a good representation of Japanese food. It's good food and it's ok. But it's not Japanese. Please keep that in mind. Thank you.

We are so happy to see KatsuCo open up at Coorparoo! We first came across KatsuCo through a friend and visited the Sherwood store and then the Toowong store. I am happy to report that this Coorparoo store is the same quality and flavour as the others. Service was really lovely and attentive too. An example of this is how the waitress saw I was cutting up the noodles for my child and offered scissors. If you haven’t been to a KatsuCo store, they specialise in battered meats that are accompanied with rice, different flavouring (salt, wasabi, katsu sauce), cabbage salad and miso soup. Their tomahawk with truffle oil is a signature speciality and it’s soft and melts in your mouth. KatsuCo is very child friendly, with a child menu and colouring in is also offered too. They have high chairs available if you need them as well. Child cutlery and bowls are available, which is very handy. It’s located opposite Coorparoo Square, where the Woolworths is. With ample parking that is free in the parking lot too. I believe they also offer BYO as well, which is very handy as there is a BWS just a couple of stores down.

Modern interior design with warm lighting creates a comfortable yet upscale atmosphere. As we entered we were greeted by kind and amiable staff. We started with salmon sashimi, karage chicken and takoyaki, followed by carbonara udon that blends well Japanese and Italian flavours. For the main, we were served with various katsu sets including tomahawk katsu, cheese katsu and don katsu. Katsu were cooked to perfection, tender and juicy pork, covered with golden brown crisp panko crumbs. Variety sauces also added playful flavours to the dish. The restaurant allowed to bring own drinks, so we are definitely looking forward to visit again to taste other menus with a bottle of wine at the table by the window. Katsuco Cooparoo offers an overall well balanced meal and outstanding dining experience.

If you're looking for an authentic Japanese dining experience, Katsuco is the place to be. From the moment I stepped inside, I was struck by the restaurant's perfect ambiance—warm, inviting, and infused with a serene Japanese aesthetic.

The food was absolutely divine. Every dish was a masterpiece of flavor and presentation, reflecting the care and skill of the chefs. The crispy yet tender katsu, rich ramen broth, and fresh sushi were highlights that left a lasting impression. Each bite transported me straight to Japan, a testament to the authenticity of their cuisine.

What truly elevated the experience was the exceptional service. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and accommodating, making me feel like a valued guest throughout my visit. They were happy to offer recommendations and ensured that everything was just right.

Katsuco delivers not just a meal but a complete dining experience. Whether you're a fan of Japanese cuisine or a first-timer, this restaurant will undoubtedly exceed your expectations. Highly...
