I hope/think that this place is under new management as the quality has dropped a huge amount since I last ate here. What was our loved local is now very unimpressive. Rolls are much smaller than they used to be (and compared to other comparable chains), not all plates are $4.60 as advertised and used to be, there’s no tap water available, and as we went to pay were told at the counter that our bill was 10% more than what the iPad had stated (there was a 1% surcharge for eftpos stated on the counter - no complaint, standard stuff). For anyone who hasn’t been here in a while, do yourself a favour and head 5 min up the road to Sushi Shou Train for a much better experience (20c more per roll, but worthwhile in my opinion) - that’s where we’ll be back to next time (even if I’m offered 20% off or a Powerade for a positive review from Kiyo..)
Editing after owners response: Incorrect. There were no jugs of water anywhere, and the option of ordering tap water on the iPad has been removed since my last visit (under previous management). Incorrect. All rolls ordered were ordered through the iPad. While the sushi chef did from time to time collect them from the train, there were no items taken from the train without first being ordered via the iPad. As someone who was a regular at this establishment whilst under new management, my personal experience is that the rolls are smaller, less uniform (not a huge deal, but under previous management it was just 'nicer' visually - things like even sized rolls, etc., the little things), and not particularly fresh of flavorsome. If others believe this is an improvement, I must have been the luckiest customer out under the last managers - always delightful.
Solely editing after the fact so others have an opportunity to make an informed decision about this establishment from a customers perspective, and not base their choice to go or not off the restaurants' "no no, we didn't do any of the things you have grievances...
Read moreI ordered the nigiri platter which is described on the menu as having 75 pieces of sushi. I knew it was too good to be true for $75 but to only come with 30 pieces is a big mistake at best and fraudulent at worst. I recommend Sushi Kiyo update their menu so other families don’t go hungry when they receive a platter that is less than half the size of what they ordered :(
On top of that, the sushi is mediocre - thin pieces of fish and overcooked rice that is packed too tightly. I wouldn’t visit again unfortunately.
Edit: I do want to note that an employee reached out to me after seeing this review and apologised for the mistake. They have since corrected this on their website. They also offered me four free plates at my next visit, but unfortunately I won’t be taking them up on their offer due to the quality of their sushi (I am a self-admitted sushi snob). But I appreciate...
Read moreI fell and injured myself severely in the restaurant as the table sit on a very high and dangerous step. It’s so so dangerous. The staff was looking and did nothing just ignoring . Only in a very big delay someone bothered to come and apologised but the damage was already done huge blue marks on my arms and belly. Very rude and unaccountable attitude. They don’t care and didn’t help at all , cold and indifferent. Just care about getting there money. I would never ever recommend this place to anybody!!! The tables stand on a very high dangerous step. They think that because they mark the stare it’s ok . But when you get up from a table you never expect the floor will disappear under your legs. I’m almost broke my leg and my arm. I should sue them! Be careful with this place....
