May's Thai Wynnum — Restaurant in Brisbane City

First time dining in tonight and I chose this restaurant because it had a good overall review rating. Wait staff were unwelcoming, unfriendly, focused solely on Uber eats orders and had to be called to to even get service. The environment dining in was excessively noisy and made worse by one of the staff’s children sitting at a dining table amongst patrons, listening to an iPad on full volume. Incredibly rude and inconsiderate of the staff to allow this, when a choice to use earphones would be so simple. Ate in a rush to get out of there as soon as possible. When I went to pay I was left waiting whilst staff continued to yap on the phone taking take away orders and serve takeaway people via a window on the footpath. I won’t be back and I cannot believe reviews have not touched on the unbearable atmosphere.

Food was okay, but presentation, colour, choice of vegetables and cut size of pieces all need a re-think and improvement. No knives on table or salt shaker, only spoon and fork. Disappointing overall experience, but the worst aspect was staff attitude...

Delicious food from Mays Thai Wynnum is a regular feature at our house for dinner or lunch. The food is consistently good and the service is great. I order online usually but we always go to the restaurant to pick up and the staff are always friendly and helpful no matter how busy the restaurant is. The Massaman curry is superb ! The beef is fall apart tender and the flavour is delicious. We love the mixed entree as it gives you a selection of tasty options for everyone’s palate. They all taste amazing! The stir fry’s are full of vibrant, fresh vegetables and whatever meat you choose in a selection of flavoursome sauces. My friend and I ate there tonight, early as it is so noisy, the wait staff left a lot to be desired, no eye contact and very standoffish, we ordered our entrees and mains. The chicken satays were overcooked but still edible, the prawns were great, beef panang was watery, meat was very tough and it had NO flavour, the pork stir fry was tough but the flavour very good. What was so annoying was the staff schreeching and yelling to each other from the servery to the kitchen making it so unpleasant, obviously the owners were not there as the standard was very poor and a waste of money.
