I say this with the upmost disrespect: this McDonald’s is, without question, the most cursed McDonald’s I have ever had the privilege, and misfortune, of living near. Since its golden arches first rose from the asphalt of Lytton Road like some greasy monument, I have borne witness to an endless parade of failed orders.
Today’s tragedy? My friend and I organised a wholesome little McDate, only to arrive home and discover that the fries, a cornerstone of the McDonald’s experience, were absent. Although the situation sparked laughter, it became the straw to break the camel’s back.
As mild as this encounter might seem, the sheer accumulation of misfortune at this joint has pushed me over the edge. Burgers have gone missing entirely, rogue ingredients have appeared uninvited, and meals have arrived so far off-spec that I often wonder if Ronald McDonald himself is behind the prank. And let’s not forget the drive-thru, where I’ve had drinks, nuggets, and what I can only assume was my dignity spilled on me, without so much as the courtesy of a napkin.
Yes, perhaps I should double-check my bag before leaving, and yes, accidents happen, but the consistency of disappointment at this one location has gone beyond human error. It has become… tradition. Even the McDonald’s I used to frequent in Ipswich never stooped this low.
At the end of the day will I take my business elsewhere? No. Like a toxic relationship, I’ll keep coming back, hoping they’ll finally get it right. But I do hope that through this light-hearted critique that someone, somewhere will make the change I so desperately crave for Colmslie McDonald’s. That one day I will be able to walk or drive in, not have to take a single peek at my order, and know that everything, from the extra burger patty down to the very last sweet and sour sauce packet will be waiting for me inside that beautiful brown paper bag.
And so, in the immortal words of Tyra Banks: “It’s so bad, I want to give you a zero. But that’s not possible. So I give...
Read moreThis morning I decided to stop by McDonald’s just to grab a simple coffee on my way out. At first, things seemed to be going smoothly — the start of the drive-through was quick, and I thought I’d be in and out within a couple of minutes. But that changed very quickly.
After paying at the first window, we sat there waiting for about five minutes before being told to drive ahead to the next one. When we got there, we ended up waiting another five minutes for one coffee. While waiting, I couldn’t help but notice what was going on inside — the staff seemed disorganised and unsure of what they were doing. You could see some of them touching their hair with no gloves on, and the whole area looked quite unclean. It didn’t give me much confidence about the hygiene standards at all.
When I finally received my coffee, it was a huge letdown. The milk was burnt, and the taste was awful — I could barely drink it. I specifically asked for lactose-free milk, so I even had to double-check that they got it right because it didn’t taste like it. The staff didn’t seem very friendly or apologetic either, just rushed and disconnected.
I haven’t been inside this particular McDonald’s before, but after today I don’t think I’ll bother. I’ve read quite a few reviews mentioning that the inside is often messy, the tables are dirty, and there’s hardly any space to sit — and after what I saw today, I can easily believe that’s true.
It’s really disappointing because McDonald’s used to be known for being quick, clean, and consistent. Unfortunately, this experience was none of those things. Hopefully management takes a closer look at what’s going on here, because it really doesn’t leave a good impression...
Read moreI took my three grandchildren to this McDonald's tonight. We decided to eat in. We ordered our meals on the screen, then looked around for a clean table, most were not. My granddaughter used the bathroom, only to find that there was no toilet paper or paper towel (though toilets were relatively clean). We settled down to wait for our number to be called out. Time went on, so about 20 mins later we went up to the counter. The staff all seemed confused, disorganised, with none or very little leadership happening. We could see part of our order (happy meals) sitting on a back counter, but could not ask about it as noone came to offer assistance. Finally they appeared and added the rest of the order to the happy meals and called out our number. The staff member who gave us our meals was polite and apologised for the delay. When we went to eat our meals, they were all cold, even the last part of the order that was just added to the happy meals. One chicken burger had way too much mayonnaise and the other had none. One cheeseburger was missing a pickle. I had to ask for napkins, as they were not refilled at the counter. When we disposed our rubbish, the bins were overflowing. Clearly, something is not right with the staff training. I don't blame the staff, they were trying. But goodness, not a great McDonald's experience!! Probably wont go back to this Maccas! Gave 2 stars because of the staff member who gave us our meals. Otherwise would have...
