Overview This is a super nice, casual Japanese restaurant in the dining precinct of the Carindale Shopping Centre. Food We ordered the tofu donburi with slaw instead of rice, the chicken karaage curry and a sesame slaw. The chicken karaage was a generous dish with chunky pieces of succulent and tender chicken in a crispy batter, with loads of fluffy rice. It was topped off with zucchinis and spicy red pickles, The fresh and creamy sesame slaw was the perfect accompaniment. My wife’s tofu teriyaki comprised four large pieces of soft tofu with shallots, seaweed, pickles and was accompanied by a rich teriyaki sauce and smooth miso soup. We both enjoyed our meals Pricing and Value We paid in total a tad under 40, which isn’t bad value for money these days, as Australia struggles under the burden of the worst hyperinflation anyone can ever remember. But what really floored me was the cost of beer. For example: $10 for a bottle of Asahi. I would have enjoyed a beer to wash down all that fine food, but I baulked at paying such an exorbitant price. Ordering and Service We tried using the app to order but it proved overly complicated, so we summoned the waitress who promptly took our order and delivered it to the table in less than 15 minutes. She was a sweet young Japanese girl, the only one on duty it seemed, who carried out her tasks efficiently and politely. Ambience The ambience is casual and laid back, with strong lighting, comfy, upholstered benches or plastic chairs and solid white melamine tables. The decor is modern, stylish and colourful with loads of greenery and interesting timber features on the roof. The whole restaurant precinct is a pleasant place to spend an hour or two, with a nice buzz and a cheery atmosphere. Parking and Toilets Being at the Westfield Shopping Centre, there’s plenty of parking, free for the first three hours, and ample clean and well maintained toilets. Overall Experience We enjoyed our experience at Motto Japanese restaurant and are likely to return. The combination of great food, casual ambience, and efficient service made it a positive dining experience. Just a pity about the excessive beer prices.

We decided to take a chance on Motto Motto last Thursday night for dinner when doing some late night shopping, but sadly were very disappointed. Seeing how busy the restaurant was, I had high expectations, I had been meaning to try here for months! When approaching the counter to order, the server seemed really unfriendly- I wasn’t greeted or anything. I carried on and placed my order, the server didn’t announce my total or anything she just looked to the eftpos machine and turned her back to help with the kitchen. After paying I wanted to ask for some water so I waited to get her attention, in which she seemed surprised I was still standing there when she turned back around. We ordered the pork gyoza, pork katsu curry & wagyu donburi. We weren’t noticed of a wait time, however were happy to do so seeing it was busy. We didn’t however expect the meals to all come at such differing times. We received the curry about 20 minutes after waiting, and 15 minutes later the entree dumplings. 10 minutes after that the wagyu bowl came - well after the other dishes were finished. Overall we thought the taste was average, almost like the ingredients were simply just supermarket bought despite their claims, especially the curry. Also, as other reviews have stated; the portion sizes are really small for the price. The Wagyu bowl was nearly $20 and the bowl was about the size of my hand. Unfortunately, the morning after I got a terrible migraine from the alleged high amount of MSG in the curry, which is a first for me at a Japanese restaurant. This sadly helped justify my assumptions about their ingredient quality/sourcing. I really wanted to enjoy Motto Motto, and I’m regretful that my review is so negative; however, I have to be honest to other customers considering a visit. Hopefully this experience was just a one off, but unfortunately we won’t be recommending here to others.

Motto Motto is one of those places that makes you feel right at home with its hearty and savory Japanese cuisine. Two days ago, me and my partner indulged in their black ramen after a long day at work. Warm, soothing, and packed with umami goodness, it hit all the right notes. We were also enticed by the mala ramen, the novelty item on their menu. A word of warning: do not confuse this dish for the subtly nuanced mala flavor. It was a missile of sheer spice, bordering on culinary assault. My partner, brave soul, bore the brunt of this spicy onslaught. It might not have been an actual homicide, but it was a close call. While the mala ramen may have been a misstep, Motto Motto still stands as a reliable go-to for its other offerings. After all, what's life without a little spice? As it stands, Motto Motto continues to charm us with its overall delightful fare, even if they've added a bit too much fire to their interpretation of mala. So yes, we'll be back.

As the evening progressed, it became evident that Kylie's dedication to her craft extended far beyond the technical aspects of service. She had an uncanny ability to gauge the mood and preferences of our table, making subtle adjustments to enhance our experience. Whether it was suggesting a slightly spicier sauce to complement a dish or offering a dessert recommendation based on our earlier choices, her intuitive understanding of our palate was truly impressive.

What struck me most about Kylie was her genuine enthusiasm for the restaurant's offerings. She shared stories about the chefs, the origins of specific ingredients, and even the inspiration behind some of the dishes. This added a unique depth to our dining experience, allowing us to appreciate the culinary artistry behind each plate.

Furthermore, Kylie's efficiency was remarkable. Despite the restaurant's bustling atmosphere, she managed to attend to every table with unwavering focus. It was clear that she had a mastery of time management, ensuring that each course flowed seamlessly into the next. This level of precision contributed significantly to the overall enjoyment of our meal.

Throughout the evening, Kylie maintained a perfect balance between professionalism and approachability. While she expertly navigated the intricacies of fine dining service, she also exuded a down-to-earth charm that put us at ease. It felt as though we were in the capable hands of a dear friend who was genuinely invested in our dining experience.

Kylie's knowledge of the restaurant's wine selection was equally impressive. She effortlessly guided us through the extensive list, recommending pairings that complemented our chosen dishes flawlessly. Her expertise in this regard elevated the overall sensory experience, allowing us to savor each bite and sip in perfect harmony.

What also deserves mention is Kylie's impeccable timing. Every course was presented with a finesse that indicated both her training and her innate sense of when to introduce the next culinary delight. There was never a moment of rush, allowing us to savor each dish at our own pace, yet there was also never a lull in the flow of the meal.

Her attentiveness extended beyond the confines of our immediate table. She discreetly observed the preferences of neighboring diners, effortlessly switching between tables to ensure that every guest received the same level of personalized service. It was evident that Kylie was a linchpin in maintaining the restaurant's reputation for excellence.

As the evening drew to a close, Kylie took the time to express her gratitude for our patronage. It was clear that she took pride in her role as an ambassador for Motto Motto Japanese Restaurant. Her genuine appreciation for our visit was the perfect conclusion to an evening of culinary delight.

In reflection, Kylie's service was not just a part of the dining experience at Motto Motto Japanese Restaurant; it was the cornerstone upon which the entire experience rested. Her passion, knowledge, and unwavering commitment to our satisfaction elevated our visit to a level of excellence that will be hard to surpass.

I wholeheartedly recommend Motto Motto Japanese Restaurant to anyone seeking not only exceptional cuisine but also a truly memorable dining experience. And to experience the magic that Kylie brings to the table, request her service. Thank you, Kylie, for turning a meal into an unforgettable...

Indulging in the culinary delights at Motto Motto Japanese Restaurant is akin to embarking on a gastronomic journey that transcends geographical boundaries and conjures a profound sense of nostalgia for the heart of Japan. My dining experience here merits nothing less than an impeccable 5 out of 5 stars.

Upon crossing the threshold of this establishment, I was instantly transported to a realm of ambiance and decor that harmoniously blend to emulate the essence of a traditional Japanese abode. The meticulous attention to detail is evident in every nook and cranny, from the minimalist yet elegant decor to the soft, soothing lighting that envelops you like a warm embrace. It's a space that manages to artfully recreate the ambiance of a bygone era in Japan, evoking a sense of cultural reverence and culinary anticipation.

However, what truly sets Motto Motto apart is its exceptional culinary prowess. As a connoisseur of Japanese cuisine, I am seldom easily impressed. Yet, here, I found myself unequivocally enamored by the sheer authenticity and quality of the fare. The pièce de résistance, undoubtedly, was the ramen. It's no exaggeration to declare that it is, indeed, a culinary masterpiece. Each bowl is a symphony of flavors, a harmonious blend of savory umami, and a broth that whispers of long-simmered tradition. The textures and aromas were uncannily reminiscent of those I had savored in the heart of Japan. It's a rare feat to encounter such a faithful representation of Japanese culinary heritage outside of its native land, and Motto Motto has accomplished it with aplomb.

While the cuisine undoubtedly takes center stage, the brilliance of Motto Motto extends to its exemplary staff. Allow me to sing praises for Kylie, a consummate professional whose commitment to providing unparalleled customer service is nothing short of commendable. Her effervescent personality, warmth, and dedication to ensuring that every aspect of our dining experience was flawless left an indelible mark on our visit.

In summation, Motto Motto Japanese Restaurant is not merely a dining establishment; it is an immersive culinary sojourn. It offers a captivating blend of tradition, gastronomic excellence, and the highest echelon of service. My fervent anticipation of a return visit is matched only by my longing to explore the myriad other delights that adorn their menu. For those seeking an authentic and transcendent Japanese dining experience, Motto Motto beckons as an unequivocal must-visit...
