Absolutely disgusting behaviour from the staff with red hair during trivial last night. We have been coming to the trivia event for the past 5 months and to have the below happen to us on the final night of the years is disgraceful.
Appears they went out of their way not to put our table in for the raffle. When a polite person from another table realised they advised the staff and nothing happened. I then went up myself 10 minutes later and politely mentioned that they missed our table to which their reply was “I definitely handed them around”. Was quite obvious that that was the case as all other tables had them but ours. Then they proceeded to say “Well there is nothing I can do now as we have already handed them out”. I advised that to me was not a valid response to which they replied “am I really this petty and have I actually seen the prize that was on offer”.
Quite disappointed to be spoken to like that when the simple solution was to grab 6 pieces of paper and provide them to us because it was their mistake. Due to the attitude of the staff I requested a manager to speak to at which point they replied “there was no manager on” that I found very hard to believe and then it quickly changed to “they are all very busy and they doubt they would want to waste their time speaking with me”.
I waited 40 minutes for a manger to speak to me and was extremely unhappy with them as well as they could honestly not care in the slightest that I was raising a complaint with how I was treated by a staff member. But they assured me that they would “hopefully” have this resolved next time. I was also told that they would mention this to the venue manger that I doubt actually got done, so hopefully this review will find its way to them so they seem how well their staff treated the issue.
I would also mention that the staff member also appeared to speak about this with other patrons which is extremely...
Read moreBooked a private Lunch function here for my mother's surprise 80th Birthday party. My sister liaised with Staff before and during the event . Staff were friendly and obliging to our requests prior to and during our event re food and service.
Our event was in the 'sunken ' area of the Tavern. Decorations were beautiful, the area was roped off, but sadly it didn't stop a group of people coming into our area, who refused to leave and were then given service by staff of coffees in our 'private' area, -which we had paid a fee for private use. The sunken area included the adjoining courtyard, where the unwelcome patrons decided to stay. This intrusion did not sit well with us. We informed staff who apologised and said as no security on, they couldn't do anything to get these people to leave. Staff actually then went on to service this group with their orders in our venue. I thought if service to this group could have been declined, this may have been incentive for the group to leave.
Despite this issue, overall it was a good event. But if you want real privacy, I would recommend booking one of the function rooms with doors. We had initially booked a conference style room, but the air-conditioning had broken down and couldn't be repaired before our function, hence having to move our function to the open , sunken area of the Tavern. So if booking this area, be aware, it can be noisy as it is exposed to the general public area of Tavern, not totally private. Disrespectful patrons may just crash your event.
Re food: we utilised the salad bar, which quickly depleted, in some of the choices, however staff seemed to do their best to replenish. We also used the full menu on offer, food served was a very...
Read moreSaw an advertisement for buy one get one free steak for steak night on an Asian newspaper with no visible further terms and conditions to be seen anywhere. Came as a family just for this deal only to be scammed by Runcorn Tavern. Before purchase we checked with staff at the table to confirm that it was indeed buy one get one free but only found out after paying that the advertisement (which had to be surrendered upon purchase and is therefore not in the included pictures) was used as a voucher applicable to get only 1 of the 8 steaks we purchased free. It was reasonable to assume that the buy one get one free advertisement applied to all steaks within that transaction based on some previous steak nights we've been to at Runcorn Tavern which had the buy one get one free deal without any vouchers. The main problem here is that the staff had taken no action to clarify the deal to the customer but rather let them find out about it post payment.
A revision of staff processes is recommended to avoid further customer misunderstandings and disappointments through prevention and catching them before they can occur E.g. reciting the order and total cost to customer pre-payment, asking sometime after the food had been set on the table if everything's all good, etc.
On another note, the salad bar bread rolls...
