After writing a positive review last year, (below) and usually happy with Samies, I was gob smacked when last Friday mid afternoon , I was shopping for crab meat (they didnt have any, disappointing but okay) so I moved over to choose oysters only to have the young female sales assistant remove the "on special" sign from the oyster display. Right in front of my eyes !!!!! unbelievable !!!!.

When I asked her about the removal of the specials sign, she just shrugged.

RUDE, RUDE, RUDE !!!!!!

Sammies Hamilton is definitely a great place to get quality fish & chips. Eat in or takeaway. I live locally so usually a takeaway. The servings are generous, fish has been pinned (no bones to worry about especially for the children) and crumbed on the spot. The service is great with the staff very knowledgable. On a Sunday when the girls from Calamvale store work there, it is even better! very obliging. They recently packaged my order separately as I was concerned it would sweat as I had mentioned to them I was walking to the other end of the new park. Very thoughtful and it was perfect! AND your chips have improved...thank you! The FRESH seafood section is great too. We had whole fresh salmon at Christmas and it was perfectly pinned and so fresh. My son marinated it for 24 hours to have uncooked as an...

Returned to Sammy's Seafood Hamilton after three years due to very poor quality food and nothing has changed. Spent $55 on 6 prawn cutlets, one piece of barramundi, one piece of snapper and medium chips. Binned the lot. We had a delightful toasted sandwich with our bottle of wine instead of the seafood dinner we had anticipated. Fish old, oily and mushy, inedible. Prawn cutlets and chips little better. Rang Sammy's immediately, spoke to a gentleman who arranged a full refund. Not really the point, is it. On arriving to collect my refund the following day things didn't improve, as I was confronted by a rather rude young girl (wouldn't use the term lady) who insisted I had paid by card, (which I hadn't, I had paid by cash) and that the refund had to go on to my card. After some minutes of arguing, luckily a lady staff member came to my rescue and pointed out to this rude individual that the receipt she was holding clearly stated that I had paid by cash. She then begrudgingly gave me my refund (apology free) and I left, never to return to Sammy's Seafood Hamilton. Not being able to read a receipt, cook fish & chips and being rude and argumentative to the customers, this person would be better served working in, let's say Faulty Towers or something similar....

I have been reading these reviews and honestly with hand on heart think that they are all a work of fiction! My wife and I took her girlfriend there yesterday, her girlfriend has had major surgery and not left the hospital in 6 weeks, so we.looked at the reviews and ..... nothing but bitter disappointment!!! The prices are exorbitant and extreme, even for Hamilton. The food is horrendous, the ouster kilpatrick were frozen and placed in the salamander/griller frozen so they were full of water, the crumbed prawns were so old they were unchewable and extra crumb coatings were layered on to cover it up. The potato scallops were uncooked and cold, the potatoes were raw inside. The crumbed calamari was the opposite, overcooked and rubbery, like trying to chew.on rubber bands! The order was botched we ordered 2 of one item and didn't get that but got 3 of another item, we asked for chicken salt and got none. Honestly, the best thing about the whole meal was the Fuze Iced Tea. My wife and I are Greeks born into Fish & Chip shops and Carveries our whole lives, this food is terrible, we should have sat at a restaurant to eat, the food would have been better and not cost any more!!! Don't waste your money and destroy your...

Samies Seafood has recently come under new ownership and the new owners are nailing it 🙌🏼! I have got take away from there a few times recently and each time it has been perfect👌🏾. The seafood is fresh with a lovely light and not “gluggy” batter/crumb. The chips are always meaty, crunchy and piping hot (extra points for the delicious chicken salt!). The portions are generous and prices are VERY reasonable! Furthermore, the customer service is remarkable. The owners and their staff are super friendly and seem genuinely happy to be there. If you’re local to the area and haven’t gone to Samies Seafood for a while, do yourself a favour and give it a crack under the new ownership. Hopefully, the good work continues and their business thrives.

Super disappointed with my visit today. If it wasn’t for the guy in the fresh seafood department who greeted me this easily could have been a 1 star review. The staff in the cooked area how ever weren’t friendly at all and made me feel bad for not knowing what cane in the barramundi meal. Which I was highly disappointed paying $20 later to receive little chips a piece of fish that had raw batter where it was put into the fryer folded and a bucket of very mediocre slaw. I will not be in a rush to return to this place any time soon unless it was for fresh seafood to do it myself. Fish tasted like nothing besides oil 👎🏻

Good range of fresh seafood considering drought on the land means drought in the sea. Fresh & frozen available. Happy to give ice if travelling far. Chose a kilo of large tiger prawns, which when peeled and de-shelled means half a kilo of meat which works out at $120 a kilo for wild caught Aussie prawns. Happy to pay that if it says what it actually was, supporting Aussie jobs Would prefer farmed Aussie prawns as more sustainable with no by-catch. Staff eager to please, but doesn't seem to be as knowledgeable as the previous staff.
