This place has a lot of hype and I was left disappointed. I got the brisket sandwich and for $24 I’d expect something delicious. The brisket/silverside was flavourless (I make better at home and I make average silverside at best) and while the hoisin onion was okay there was barely any on there. There was a sliver of a pickle and minimal amount of ice-burg lettuce. I got a vanilla donut (which they entered wrong on the receipt as lemon curd) and it was stale. I asked for a refund and the staff were kind about it which I appreciate as I get anxious asking for refunds. Kinda wish I ate there though instead of takeaway because the chicken salt chips had no chicken salt on them and I never tasted a burger sauce that tasted like nothing but now I have. Would not recommend. I live in the Valley and there are lots of great sandwich places here so this trip to Ascot was not worth it. There is a surcharge on the food when you pay with card and I got $8.91 back on the card for the donut idk how that works but the sandwich was $24, chips $12 and I paid $48.99. I guess the donut was $8?The surcharge is 11% like...

I just love sandwiches and good vegetarian sandwiches are lacking in Brisbane, generally if there is a vegetarian sandwich or burger on a menu, it looks and tastes like an after though.

I am so pleased to see Sarni thinking outside of the box and offering on this months menu (May 2025) three vegetarian or Vegan options, they are also made with a decent protein or vegetable vs many sandwiches/burgers these days are made with a plant based substitute that is from a box and which are generally made with minimal quality ingredients.

The three sandwiches on the menu this month are a falafel, Katsu tofu (tofu is an amazing option for sandwiches as it is hardy and it starts off bland and therefore it can be made to taste like whatever you want) and the final option is an saucy eggplant sandwich.

I tried the falafel and it was very tasty, full Of flavour and had some pickled cucumber which added some crunch. The falafel was cooked well and was not overpowered by any one spice. The yoghurt dressing was also very nice and had just enough garlic.

I will be back to try the other two...

Tried the Salami, Maple Bacon & Egg and side of chips for lunch today with my wife.

Salami was an incredible sandwich. You can tell the pesto, bread, fillings are all being done in house. Super fresh and delicious.

Chips were great. Homemade burger sauce that came them exceptional.

The Maple Bacon & Egg was a miss for me. Maple bacon was very fatty - not a problem if rendered and cooked well but unfortunately it was very under. Had that over crowded pan, steamed bacon feel about it. All that undercooked bacon fat, egg and mayo made for a very fat heavy sandwich that I thought was screaming for something to cut through it all. Ended up dipping it in the burger sauce from the chips. Bread was faultless though.

Lady at the front counter was lovely. Forgot my coffee but promptly made it when I let her know it hadn’t arrived.

Shame about the bacon sandwich because you can tell that there’s a lot of love going into the food. Would be curious to see if that’s the way the bacon normally is served or just caught them...
