Shingle Inn Carindale — Restaurant in Brisbane City

Very disappointing Vastly different to the Shingle Inn at Browns Plains and Garden City who consistently have awesome coffee, service and meals.

Both our flat white coffees on almond milk tasted weird like the almond milk was off or contaminated, but the coffee was noticeably bitter.

The G F muffins are always soft & fluffy at other Shingle Inns elsewhere but today it was rock hard and stale. So obviously there’s a lack of ensuring stock is fresh and not out of date.

I thought it was more expensive than expected but had no idea I’d been ripped off until I checked my receipt later on as follows: Ordered a chicken and cranberry sandwich for my husband and was asked what bread I would like. I asked what were the choices and he went through the list including Turkish which I chose. This I found to be an extra cost of $2.30. 😡 One would expect a sandwich to come with some sort of bread? But to be charged extra for one particular sort of bread is, without being forewarned, for a sandwich that already costs $15.50, is completely unacceptable. I was charged extra for a bit of cucumber which was the agreed substitute ‘instead’ of pine nuts on my $23.40 salad & salmon, which is ridiculous especially given the price difference and also unacceptable.

The order was placed by the male in charge, who is also always impatient and abrupt. Never welcoming Won’t...

I had 20 minutes to kill and ordered a coffee and vanilla slice. After 15 minutes (and not very busy) I went up to the counter and asked how much longer because I had an appointment. She said sorry wont be long. I sat down and after another five minutes food and coffee arrived. After I finished, I noticed had no napkin so I went to the counter again and asked if I could have a napkin and she pointed to them on the counter. By this time I am in a real hurry to get to my appointment. I wiped by face, looked around for a bin and could not see one so put the napkin down on the counter and walked away thinking that they would dispose of it. I heard a voice calling 'scuse me!!!", I turned around and she said "can you put it in the bin" I said "where is the bin" and she said "they are all throughout the centre" . I picked up the napkin, walked passed the table I was sitting at and threw it on the table in disgust. It has been a long time since I encountered such poor customer service. The coffee and vanilla slice set me back about $11.00 for the trouble and there were not very many other...

EDIT: Stupidly I tried this place 3 years later and what a surprise still the same! The manager? (blonde haired lady) is nothing short of extremely rude! Terrible service, crap food, expensive.

Terrible service, terrible food and huge wait times.

I waited over 30 minutes, on a quiet day, for my Smashed Avocado which was absolutely awful!!!! I was so disappointed. I paid over $30 for this including a drink.

The Smashed Avocado did not include feta as advertised, the soggy bread/toast was clearly Wonder White bought from the local supermarket and not a delicious Sourdough or other nice bread that you'd expect, absolutely zero flavour....I could of made it better at home. Oh, did i mention the 30 minute wait!!!?...
