We have been tossing whether to post this or not because we had such a bad experience but hey, we’re here to share our real experiences right? So here it goes..
We dined here for lunch on a Sunday back in early October.
They normally open between 11:30-2:30 for lunch and 4:30-9pm for dinner.
We got there at 1:00pm, had to wait outside for a table. We probably managed to sit around 1:10-1:15.
We were squished in a space inside since we can’t have our then 5 month old bub out of her pram— she was not ready to be on a high chair.
We ordered via the QR code on the table quite quickly. We know the menu because this is one of our go to places.
As the food came, we took quick photos of each dish and then started eating. We normally don’t wait for everything to be served as we want to have the food while they’re hot.
Just before 2pm, we have been asked to settle our bill as they are closing, understandable. We purchased take away containers straight up as some of the food have not been touched yet as they have just been served. As requested, we paid the bill but tried to continue eating as fast as we could.
They started closing the roller door, which is fine, they’re closed. Completely understandable.
But, we were stunned when they turned all the lights off, and they all started eating their lunch.
We don’t have any problems with them eating their lunch, but turning all the lights off while customers are still inside the restaurant eating, that was beyond us.
Yes, we understand they close at 2:30, it was around 2:15 when this happened.
We ordered way more than what’s on the photos. We had mixed vegetables, fried rice, noodle soup, etc.
We just packed whatever we can fit in the take away containers and left everything else behind.
We used to come here often, we’ve been dining here since around 2011.
This experience has forever put us off from...
Read moreAlways liked this place for their food and of course don’t expect much service here. In saying so I still expect some basic customer service. The one star today is purely in relation to their service.
My partner and I came here and was first in line. Another 2 guests came and asked a different waitress for a table. Because the 2 waitresses don’t communicate, my table was given away. This was at 1:30pm and we hadn’t eaten all day so we’re quite hungry. We told 2 different waitresses that we would order drinks first and wait for a table at the same time. The waitress continued to bring other guests in so another 2 groups went in before us. At first I thought these people made a booking so was seated first.
When another group of 2 came in asking for a table and then being seated before us was the point I realised these were all walk-in customers.
My partner and I were both just standing there and having our drinks waiting. Why do the waitresses think we like to buy a drink and just stand there. Is it to enjoy their scenery or to admire their beauty?
So at this point I told the waitresses we are in fact waiting and she looked surprised yet apologised. After waiting for 30 minutes and some of the groups let in before us were almost finished with their meals we were finally taken to our table. Before even sitting down yet I asked the staff if I could order now cause I’m ready. She replied with a yes but right after that someone hailed her down to order and she started advancing towards them. I was quite confused at that point because in the middle of serving us the waitress thought it was ok to leave and attend to another guest.
Just too many errors made in such a short amount of time. I would still like to be a regular there as I enjoy the food however staff need to learn how to communicate with each other and have at least some sort of basic...
Read moreAfter searching around Sunnybanks on where to eat, my group and I decided to give this place a try. Some of the staff here was friendly and some not so much. Service was not consistent. We ordered a combination roast meat dish (had roasted duck, bbq pork, and soya chicken), deep fried tofu, three cups chicken, and their salt and chicken fried rice.
The combination dish was average, we got leftover pieces of the duck that tasted awful and most bones and less meat, the soya chicken was dry and the bbq pork was decent. The only thing that complimented the dish was just their veggies and the soya sauce.
Their known three cups chicken was okay, nothing special about it, was a on the saltier side and needed to eat it with rice.
The deep fried tofu was horrible, the tofu wasn’t crispy at all and inside still had a bit of wet batter that made the whole tofu had some sort of sourness that felt like the tofu was not washed properly.
The salt and chicken fried rice we ordered was bland, dry, and had no additional taste on the combined ingredients, and the fried rice has no “wok hei” to it. Wok hei (breath of the wok) in Chinese cooking is very important and essential, it comes from cooking all the ingredients in a wok in very high heat, which mingles all the ingredient to have a slight char, smoky and steam to it; which this rice did not have. While the waiter was bringing out our rice, he literally sniffed the fried rice close to his nose. Very unsanitary.
Was very disappointed...
