I would like to share an extraordinary experience involving a food consultant, a chef and a restaurant...
Of course I have made it sound much more official and formal than it really is.
But let me assure you upon placing .my call (under pressure to meet a takeaway Thai dinner order), I was greeted very warmly, much like an old friend. Such is the familiarity, loyalty to customers and genuine community ownership is Thai O-Shai restaurant in Aspley.
Those who know Aspley, know Thai-O-Shai and the friendly competent voice of Sheree the owner, who is always ready to help, chat or make good a special request.
Tonight, I required all three. We chatted briefly, as easily as two food critics discussing the vibrancy of there spectacular Satay chicken entree which is always the first dish I order without fail.
It has been some time since I had last spoken to Sheree and as always she had time to have a laugh and help me with a recommendation.
As usual, I had no idea what my final order would look like as I dialed the number. But I knew that asusual with Sherees help we would push through in the most effective way.
I was under pressure as I had a business zoom meeting in 10 minutes. Sensing my anxiousness, Sheree took the reins and suggested the duck curry, which I concurred.
And now for the special request, can you knock on the door twice and set it down in front of the door and leave it as I will be in a meeting. I added in that some of the people in the meeting with me will be in other countries. Maybe Sheree would think I was as good at running my business as she was hers... maybe that's why I added it in hahaha.
Finally, I told her to process the credit card now as I would be in a meeting soon and I didn't want it to not process because of a wrong number. She didn't seem under any pressure to do it any faster. I told her again about the meeting I had in ... well now it was 8 minutes. She calmly processed the card and added it that it would still be ok if something went wrong as she would get me next time... wow, talk about customised , one on one, loyalty, trust. You dont get that in many communities any more... unless your Thai-Oshai in Aspley!!!! The duck was sensational, its the main reason I am writing this. I dont think I have ever tasted a duck curry let alone any duck of this quality. It was so amazing as was the rest of the food, the service and of course Sherees amazing ability to make ordering takeaway on a Wednesday night in Aspley an incredible experience of taste and emotions.
Thai-Oshai Aspley, an amazing restaurant, amazing food a proprietor who is all in, all the time, invested in the people and the community as a whole. Modern tasty food, excellent service with all the the warmth and friendly personal touch of a bygone era where we once understood the best way to get everything you want in life is to help others get everything they...
Read moreI can't delete this post so I've edited it (deleted from TripAdvisor) . Previous review is below. We previously had a bad experience and complained to the owner. She re-did the whole order at no cost to us. Everything was great the second time around. She said they had a new chef on and things went wrong that day. She asked to delete the review. I have done so on TripAdvisor but no option to do that on Google, so updating the review.
We spent $112 for this disgusting takeaway. So disappointed! Firstly, the Thai tea was horrible and they forgot the sugar, the deep fried tofu was cold, hard and had no flavour and the rice was a complete joke!! Couldn't chew it and when taken out of the tray it stayed shaped as a block!!! Please see pictures on TripAdvisor. Absolutely...
Read moreWent to this little local restaurant for the second time with a group of 8 people .Food was ok , but the service was appalling . We had made a booking for 6 pm , not very busy , with only a couple of other diners .Others came in after us & were attended to but no one came near us .We went to the front counter to ask for service .Waiter came & took orders from 4 of us then never returned , so back to the front counter again to ask for service. Those entrees came way before the first ones ordered , although one was missing . From the moment the first meal came , in no particular order it must have been close to an hour before the last one arrived . Had been once before with same group & service was not good , but thought I would give them a second chance...
