5 stars seems so little, for what Transcontinental has done for us. I would give this venue a million stars and more if I could. Our wedding venue cancelled on the day of our wedding. Yes you read that right. The beautiful rainforest venue we picked out, was flooded the day of our wedding. It was the phone call nobody wants to receive on their wedding day. Postponing wasn't an option, so we had to frantically look for a place who can accomodate, and take on a wedding for almost 80 guests, organising vendors, catering, decorations and have it all completed within 3 hours before guests arrive on a rainy Saturday. Us; the bridal party and the original rainforest venue manager were calling numerous other venues, all with the same answer 'not possible in three hours'. If it's not unavailability, or catering, then it's not enough staff. I was starting to lose hope, then miraculously, we got a call back from Ash here at Transcontinental Hotel. I couldn't believe myself when Ash said she could accomodate for us. From the first phone call to the very final minute, I don't know to thank Ash, Gabi, and the rest of the team here at Transcontinental Hotel enough for making it happen. Ash coordinated all the vendors so well, she told me to just pass on her number to them, and she will take care of the rest, and that she did. In a blink of an eye, she took on our problem, and just like that, it was gone. About to walk down the aisle, I thought decoration will not be what we wanted, we won't have all the decors we handpicked, the details our families spent months making, the colours we wanted, but at least the guests will have tables to sit at, and there will be some food and drinks. If I could tell you I almost cried when I walked down the aisle with mum and saw the reception set up in the background. All of our decorations were there, the table runners, the candles, the travertine table numbers, the guest favours, the cake, the flowers, everything we spent months picking out were there, exactly how we wanted. I still can't believe how lucky we were to come across Ash and the team here at Transcontinental. How they managed to pull all of that off within three hours, was nothing short of magic. The night turned out EXACTLY as planned (they even have a projector for our silly video), as if the venue change was an intentional PR stunt (according to our guests). I will forever be grateful; if it weren't for Ash and the team here, I don't even want to imagine what that day could have been like, and how devastated we would have been. The worst nightmare, turned into the best day of our lives.

The food portion size is very generous here. Had the schnitzel with gravy on the lunch special board, which cost $20. There were two big pieces of crumbed chicken. This was served with lettuce (wish there were tomatoes and other ingredients added to make it more like a garden or greek salad) and some pub style thick chips. It was much too big for me to eat alone. I wish they made the portion size smaller and lowered the price. If I went there again, I would share a meal or opt for a entree. The softdrink from the bar must have been $4 approx, which I think is a bit excessive given it wasn’t from a can/bottle. Service was friendly and the food came out very quickly despite being in a large group. Would recommend the Trans Hotel if you want a place to eat out during your work lunch.

Do yourself a favour and have your wedding reception at the Transcontinental!!! Ash and her team go above and beyond, are so friendly and professional. Communication was perfect. They made our whole day just work out so well. The upstairs space is huge and a perfect blank canvas for you to add your style for your day. We had 55 people at our reception and it was cosy but still even space for everyone to move around and most importantly dance! Food was amazing, high quality and all our guests raved about it afterwards. Most importantly though, it was affordable and well worth every penny. You honestly won't regret having your reception here!

I went an had a lovely meal at your venue. The girls working an serving the food were very polite an respectful and deserve lots of praise for there good work. There was a male waiter who's name I'm unsure who while eating my dinner told me 830 the venue is closed. Okay. So I asked the female waiter if the gaming section was going to be still open she said yes that will be open until midnight. While I was eating my meal I had one drink which I drank slowly the male waiter told me drinks are cut of now and it's closed at 830 okay that's alright. So I finish my dinner and walk to the outside section of your bar an sit down to text my friend. With a plan of having one more drink in the gaming section before taking of home. I was sitting there peacefully and calmly when your male staff member with glasses approached me and said in a strong tone of voice we are closed time to leave. When I asked why he said the venue is closed. This created some confusion for me as the lovely lady who served me dinner said I could visit the gaming area after..so I looked at him and said why? Why is it closed and he said I don't like the way U are looking at me. You are being argumentative get out of I'm calling the police. Because I was sitting down for 1 minute texting my friend getting ready to enjoy another drink in the gaming area. Both ladies waiting an serving dinner were respectful and considerate and I'm unsure why I was treated the way I was and if this is a regular occurance at your venue I'm disappointed. Chefs did an excellent job preparing the meal so chef hats of them. Two ladies at the bar excellent and even the ladies I spoke with in the gaming area where I asked if they were still open or if the venue was closing that said nah we are open until 12 were welcoming and pleasant. Absolute pleasure all around except glasses. He needs to work on his people skills an not try boss people around the venue when I'm trying to sit an slowly enjoy my meal and enjoy a drink. Would still recommend the place overall but four eyes not so much. Up your game bud. Or get out of hospitality. Wasn't very hospitable. Peace an love. Thank for reading my review. An don't do better be better....

Overpriced menu. Only reasonably priced main was special and they ran out right on lunch time. RESPONSE TO REPLY Uninformed opinion? My opinion was anecdotal - ie based on factual observations - not 'ill informed'. It was my observation that your main menu was expensive. As a result of this I opted for the only reasonably priced main. The fact that this item had run out by 12 also showed that most other people looking at your menu also chose the cheapest option - reinforcing my observation that your menu is in fact expensive. The fact that it was a special was nether here nor there. For those prices I could have had lunch in an upmarket restaurant located in a much nicer part of town. Since covid there is a lot of homeless vagrants around Roma St. On occasion Roma St can resemble a scene from the movie The Hills have Eyes. The Trans is also between the city watch house and the Law Courts so there is also always a lot of unsavoury types floating around from those 2 places around lunchtime weekdays. Not to mention atm the pub is opposite a giant construction site for the cross river rail so the ambience isn't ideal. So taking all those aspects into consideration I do think the prices are expensive for the lunch experience there and as a result I rated my experience 1/5. The pub is nice inside and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The food was good for pub food but not great....
