I have preferred to stayed at this hotel before for its reasonable priced, short stay, clean accommodation and expected a lot much better services and state of the rooms for the price they command that was paid this time around.
I am 194cm and staff know that from previous bookings, yet I was given a room with a bed to short even to laying diagonal on the bed.
First off I entered my room and left my belonging there, I then proceeded to go and do some shopping outside. I came back and couldn't gain access to my room, this took 1 hour for staff to replace the electronic lock on my door.
The room was hot and muggy so the AC was needed, that was a fatal mistake as it could not be regulated and was uncomfortable to say the least. The little fridge in the room made ticking sounds all night.
Then there is the matter of rubbish trucks filling up skips of empty bottles at 1.00am in the hotel's private back ally when trying to sleep. The noise went on for 5 - 10 minutes and was horrendous.
To top off the experience I endured at this hovel of accommodation, In the morning I attempted to have a shower but the water started backing up into the shower pan. A quick look at the easy to remove floor wasted showed a huge amount of human pubic hair had blocked the drain.
Furthermore questioning the manager over my experience saw the manger look dumb faced and conceited and challenging instead of sincerity, and at least faking being apologetic. I also questioned the manger over why I was charged off my credit card instead of the people who were paying for my room, the manager had no explanation and didn't take my word for it that I consumed no hotel fare after a large argument I was refunded for the bottle of water I didn't drink.
I had also two weeks before hand, accidentally left a usb charge cord and the manager couldn't find it and put the owners back on me that I was responsible. Which made me think 'Thank God' it wasn't a laptop or any other expensive item I might of left.
All in all my experience was one of horror at the state of management and the run down environment the rooms are in from going there...
Read moreI recently had the unfortunate experience of staying at the George William hotel in Brisbane, and I must say it was far from satisfactory. Firstly, the price I paid for my stay was completely unjustified considering the numerous issues I encountered. The room I was allocated was incredibly small, making it difficult to move around comfortably.
Furthermore, the moment I entered the room, I was hit with a horrible smell that lingered throughout my stay. It was evident that the housekeeping staff had not properly cleaned the room, as I found towels left behind from previous guests. This lack of attention to detail is simply unacceptable.
The customer service at the George William hotel was nothing short of horrendous. The staff displayed a complete disregard for guest satisfaction and were unhelpful in addressing any concerns or issues that arose during my stay. It is disappointing to encounter such a lack of professionalism.
To make matters worse, the windows in the room were sealed off, preventing any possibility of fresh air or natural light. This lack of ventilation, especially in the bathroom, created an uncomfortable and stuffy environment. It is essential for a hotel to prioritise the well-being and comfort of its guests, which the George William hotel clearly failed to do.
Adding insult to injury, I was provided with only a small fridge in the room, which was stocked with overpriced snacks that I had to pay for separately. This felt like an unnecessary and disappointing money-grabbing tactic from the hotel management.
Overall, my stay at the George William hotel was the worst hotel experience I have ever had, and I consider myself a frequent traveler. The combination of the exorbitant price, small and poorly-maintained room, lack of customer service, sealed windows, lack of ventilation, and the inconvenience of paid snacks left me extremely dissatisfied. I strongly advise against staying at this hotel if you value comfort, cleanliness, and good service.
This place needs a HUGE UPGRADE and REBRANDING!!!
The only good thing about this place is location… if you don’t car about...
Read moreFor me the location is perfect. I always stay here if overnight. This time around I had been vomiting the day I arrived and needed a shower and a sleep. The card didn't work to let me into the floor level area or into the room. I was so annoyed as I needed to rest up. Then the room was very much smaller with no view or balcony so not as good as previous rooms but still clean which was good on that level at least. However, when I tried to go downstairs later on I couldn't get out. Again. I tried the emergency exit, went down to Grnd level but the door was locked. Went back up a level, the doors were all locked. Rang the desk again very annoyed. Housekeeping let me out of the stairwell. Apparently I would have had to go down to the basement car park to get out. They said it's a fire safety policy. I went and had a meal at the restaurant which is always excellent no matter what. Best breakfasts and dinners there. Not sure I won't try another hotel in the area next time around as even the mattress this visit wasn't as comfortable. Think I had been given one of the cheapest rooms this time around. It might not have so bad if (a) I hadn't been vomiting and feeling sick, and (b) had been given a card that worked to let me into the floor area and into the room. Normally this would be picked up by using the lift but I got into a lift with others this time around. The card not working was a deal breaker for me because I felt like collapsing after vomiting enroute. Being locked out later in the stairwell didn't help either. Overall not as good a stay as previous times. This is my first negative experience...
