I had an absolutely incredible experience at Jai YATAI in Bulimba! From the moment we walked in, the cozy, vibrant atmosphere set the perfect vibe for a fantastic meal. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the food they serve, making us feel right at home.
The menu is a delightful journey through Japanese cuisine with a modern twist. The Tori Karaage Rice Bowl was hands-down the best I’ve ever had—crispy, juicy, and bursting with flavor. The sashimi was incredibly fresh, and the Pork Tonkatsu Curry had the perfect balance of rich, savory goodness. Don’t skip the Yakitori Platter; each skewer was grilled to perfection and paired beautifully with their house-made sauces.
What sets Jai YATAI apart is the attention to detail—every dish is presented with care, and the ingredients are clearly top-notch. The drink menu is just as impressive, with a great selection of Japanese beers and refreshing homemade iced teas that complemented the meal perfectly.
Whether you’re a local or just visiting Bulimba, Jai YATAI is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic, high-quality Japanese food with a fun, casual twist. I’m already looking forward to my next visit! 🍜🔥 I have eaten at some of the best restaurants in the world and these guys Absolutley nail it. We are so lucky to have...
Read moreWe visited Yatai for the first time in several months and while the food was great, it still suffered from the same issues we had on a previous visit. The staff were pleasant to deal with but the level of service was questionable. We were seated quickly but no water was brought to the table and we were not asked for a drinks order while we looked through the menu.
When we finally got a drinks order placed after flagging someone down - the drinks never came and we noticed several other tables having the same issue. Our food was brought to the table and still no drinks. Eventually (roughly 30-40 minutes after arriving), and as we were halfway through our meal, we cancelled the drinks order entirely, which was disappointing as we like trying different Japanese beers that aren't readily available.
There were also piles of used plates scattered around the restaurant and things seemed quite disorganised. The person who served us was very apologetic, which helped, but overall we finished our meal and couldn't wait to go - it was a disappointing night.
We'll be back again as we enjoy the food but hopefully they have more staff the next time. The kitchen seemed to be running well, it was just the front of house that was suffering - poor staff or not enough staff...I'm not sure which? Maybe we just...
Read moreBad meat, bad food, bad service! Such a bad experience.
The beef and chicken must gone off, please do not believe the marketing comments for high star. It below average and healthy hazard, avoid at any cost.
P.S. The shop response the review quickly and address their standard is high but I don't understand how does this such 'high' standard made the wagyu beef hard chewing, and taste sour/gone off? We experienced food poisoning over weekend and have to ask for a day sick leave today from work to recover. My suggestion is that saving marketing/social media cost to invest your ingredients, which may save this shop for big longer. Lowering food ingredients quality to pay social media bill won't be sustained. We read social media can come over for $50 meals, which is once off, given the population we have around the town, how many $50 can you get from social...
