Online order placed and no notification received to advise order was ready to collect.
Hello, I am a long term loyal local customer of muddies cafe. However after this evenings experience I believe I will not be a return customer. I submitted an online order via your website at 5:50pm at home after submitting the order was advised a 35min wait. I understand waiting. I am a regular customer and have waited longer previously dinning in at Muddies. I drove the 10mins from home to muddies and waited in car until advised to collect my order. However no notification was received. Usually a message is sent to collect your order. No message was received. I kept refreshing the website where I placed my order and the ETA kept increasing. So at the 60minute mark I walked in and waited at the food preparation end because I thought any minute they will call my name to collect my order. But nothing. After 5mins I went up to counter and politely explained my situation and they found my order sitting in the brown takeaway bag on the counter. I asked how long it had been sitting there because I had been standing watching the counter and in that time still hadn’t receive notification to say my order was ready. I asked the young guy at counter and he said ohhh not long. At the counter I opened the boxes of food and it was not hot. I was not going to wait any longer and expressed my disappointment in service to the young guy and girl who calls out the orders at the counter as I am a regular customer and this has never happened before and tonight’s experience was less than impressive. Muddys cafe has a service to provide and this has failed tonight. I have since taken the food home for the family to eat and I still have not received notification that my food is ready to collect. Like I said at the counter to the young guy serving. When would I of received notification to collect my food? He didn’t have an answer. It wasn’t until the 50minute waiting mark I looked up google reviews and noticed the same thing has happened to another customer. Maybe you need to review using Chewzie app because tonight it has failed your business and left a bad taste in my mouth. I would like to be contacted for a full refund of my order. Ps: This is my first ever Google review. I expect a lengthy response like previous reviews and for my order to be refunded. Kind regards, Ora - Cairns born and raised local for more than 32years. Pps: Have uploaded proof of no notification. Please not time stamps in corner.
Review edited at 7:45pm to say food now ready. Screen shot as proof. Although it was ready way before...
Read moreI'll start with a summary: there is simply nothing to not love about Muddy's.
I stayed in Cairns for about a week for work (and you couldn't ask for a nicer place in the world for your job to send you on travel!), and after discovering Muddy's we ended up going for breakfast almost every day.
The location is picture perfect - set among some beautiful lush green trees with an adjacent playground for the kids to enjoy, right along the boardwalk and water. You can just sit and relax while staring out at the sea and taking in all the beauty that is Cairns. There's plenty of indoor and shaded outdoor seating, although because of the popularity sometimes you may need to wait a few minutes for a table.
The food is excellent, and you essentially just can't go wrong with anything here. The thick milkshakes (thickshakes) are outstanding - among the best vanilla shakes I've ever had. The sourdough toast is heavenly, especially loaded up with butter and strawberry jam. The chai lattes are excellent, and the açai bowl is outstanding (with fresh fruit and optional peanut butter and yogurt). The smoothies and juice drinks are to die for, made fresh to order. It's almost worth traveling to Cairns just for a Muddy's smoothie!
The service is equally wonderful, with staff bringing food to your table after you order either online via QR code at your table or in person at the register. Food is brought out as it's ready, so you will likely get different parts of your order at different times, and similarly food for different people in your group will likely come out at different times. The staff are super friendly, and on the rare occasion when a mistake was made they were more than happy to fix it.
There's a reason Muddy's is always so busy - it's a true gem among many great restaurants in town. If you're here looking for a great place for breakfast, a cafe to relax and get a coffee, or desire an afternoon treat, Muddy's is where...
Read moreI came for a takeaway coffee and smoothie at 9:30am during school holidays. It seemed fairly busy, but plenty of empty tables. As I was tapping my phone to pay the server told me it was a 15-20minute wait. I thought a refund would be a hassle so decided to wait, with my husband and toddlers waiting in the car. After 35minutes, they were still telling people at the counter it was 20minute wait. A couple of mums and their active toddlers were wondering if they should order and wait that long. I felt bad but decided to just let them know I had been waiting 35minutes for a coffee and smoothie, which they were thankful to know and decided to leave. Even after hearing how long I had been waiting, the server continued telling people 20minutes, and I thought this was a poor choice. Many customers were complaining about the wait to the server, and the amount of us standing waiting for takeaway orders banked up quickly. In the end it was 43minutes from when I tapped my phone to pay, to when I received two drinks. I could see my smoothie sitting in the fridge for the last 10mins of that. Coffee and smoothie were okay, and the food coming out of the kitchen looked quite good, but I will not be returning when I come back to Cairns. I understand school holidays are busy, but that is a very long time to wait, especially since I was not told until I had already paid (I assume that was a genuine mistake from the server as he told other people prior to them ordering) and it was more than double the approximated...
