Visited Coffs (from Brisbane) specifically to eat at The Happy Frog. The verdict was somewhat mixed and, unfortunately, prevented what would otherwise have been a 5 star review.
The negatives:
At the counter, we ordered 4 salads that we stated would be shared between my wife and I. We found a table but, when served, were given the entire amount on a single plate. The waitress therefore returned with an additional plate and left again. Trying to move the salads to the other plate, using just a fork, was a challenge and a little frustrating.
Later, our drinks were delivered by a different waitress who opted not to speak and had a sullen look on her face the entire time. Then, while placing our drinks on the table, noticed some friends at a neighbouring table and immediately came to life, big smile on her face and chatting away. She walked away without acknowledging us and stayed with them for several minutes.
Not one piece of cauliflower in our entire serve of Broccoli & Cauliflower salad. Nevertheless, this probably rated as my favourite of the 4 salads selected. Some cauliflower would have been nice, however.
The positives:
A very well presented, clean store that offers a large variety of products, ranging across fresh food and drinks (salads, wraps, quiches, pies, tea, coffee, shakes, smoothies, cakes, etc.), packaged goods, cups/mugs, cook books, herbs/spices and much more.
There is indoor and outdoor seating so, even while the store was reasonably busy, we managed to find a table.
Our meals and drinks were excellent. Our 4 selected salads - Waldorf, Broccoli & Cauliflower, Buddha, Pear & Kale were all fresh, unique and really tasty. Although we disagreed on order of preference, we both enjoyed the lot. It was actually filling too so we weren't left wanting for more.
Overall, The Happy Frog is a great store that provided quality food and a mostly positive experience. Improve the customer service and, for me, all the boxes...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting The Happy Frog Café in Coffs Harbour, NSW, and I’m keen to share my experience. The café, offers an extensive range of food, catering well to those who vegetarian options. However, it’s worth noting that the prices at The Happy Frog do lean towards the higher end. While this might be a consideration for some, it’s important to remember that specialty dietary options often come at a premium.
Regarding their coffee, the serving size was generous, which is always appreciated. But, I found the coffee’s flavor to be a bit underwhelming. It didn’t quite hit the mark for me, which was a bit of a letdown considering the importance of a good brew in a café experience.
The food, on the whole, was decent. While it didn’t particularly dazzle my taste buds, it was satisfactory and seemed to be prepared with care. There’s room for improvement, but it was a pleasant enough dining experience.
Lastly, the ambiance of The Happy Frog deserves a special mention. It’s clear that a lot of thought has gone into creating a warm and inviting atmosphere, making it a great spot to relax and unwind. The ambiance alone makes it worth a visit.
In summary, The Happy Frog Café is a charming spot with a strong focus on vegetarian cuisine and a wonderful ambiance. While there are areas for improvement, particularly in terms of coffee flavor and pricing, its strengths make it a noteworthy establishment in...
Read moreSo after being so excited to visit The happy Frog coming back to town; thinking yay a company that I respect and love their vision. This was more than slightly shattered due to the way I was served. I asked the woman serving “How do I go about ordering The Buddha bowl”? She didn’t speak but just pointed at the serving bowls and the different sizes. After realising myself what the go was I then went down to look at the different salads which were not labeled so basically I was having to say Um ok I’d like the top left and then bottem left ect* the noodle dish however was labeled so I was able to clearly state that one. Instead of not walking the 3 or 4 steps down toward me so I could show her exactly what I wanted, she just stood there and looked at me like I had two heads and that I was annoying her. I felt so uncomfortable and not treated fairly. It completely took away the joy of treating myself to a lunch out. This doesn’t sound like much to be upset about maybe but I couldn’t even try to explain to you the way this girl made me feel. It was unfortunate because after eating I was wanting to buy all my organic or pesticide free fruit and veg from there. I definitely didn’t want to do...
