What an amazing place this is!! Words can't describe the explosion of flavours from each bite of both the sandwiches we had! This place is hands down by far the best cafe I've been at in northern Tassie. I'd definitely list this as a must visit!! The chef owner clearly takes pride in his food, and actively seeks feedback on each dish. It certainly shows in the love you feel has gone into every dish! I'll be back to try their vege eggs dish and smashed avo that other reviews have highly recommended previously Added May 2025 - Dean is just an absolute genius!! His latest creation beats it all, with a potato rosti base with kinchi sauce, and pork belly with soft egg on top! I'm in heaven!!

Within 30 minutes of arriving in Tassie on the ferry, we came across Playfish for breakfast. Google reviews lead us here and we were not disappointed! Hubby and I ordered an eggs Benedict which came with a generous portion of bacon. Super soft fresh bread and perfection sauce. Thank you chef 🙏 This lovely cafe has a retro feel with the old Formica tables and colourful chairs. Coffee was great, so much so we took another one for the road. The owner Dean was a delight and clearly knows what he is doing in a kitchen! If you have the opportunity we highly recommend you check it out

Playfish Cafe in Devonport offers delicious food, friendly service, and a cozy atmosphere. The menu features a variety of dishes made with fresh, local ingredients. The staff, including the fantastic and helpful owner, is attentive and welcoming, making every visit a pleasure. Whether you're grabbing a coffee or enjoying a meal with friends, Playfish Cafe is a great choice for a memorable dining experience in Devonport. Plus, if you're off the Spirit of Tasmania, it's the only place available with yummy and unforgettable food and coffee. Thank you 😊

I have visited this cafe every day I visit Devonport recently (5 to 6 times). This morning was disappointing and I wont return. After a lengthy wait, I was given a wrong order, then the second order was not what I request and there was raw egg stilk to be seen. I asked for 2 sausage rolls which for their small size are $4.50 and also not hot which is somewhat unpleasant to eat, and maybe they are left uncovered in the fridge, just from the taste. And now just tasting my coffee, I cant be sure its soy milk. Offering a customer money back to keep them happy is not really great service. Up until today, I thought this place was amazing. I am hoping its a personal isuue that has let them down today. Anyway I will just have to make my own italian expresso and have porridge. Guess everything good...
