Had dinner here recently with my family. Walked in no other patrons. Was very cold. Told by my brother that has frequented this place o er 20 yrs with different owners but warned me to expect it to be cold inside as these owners don't care to use their air-conditioning. Was very cold until my sister inlaw said how cold it was and they put it on. Took awhile for any service as they didn't have staff. Ordered a Canadian club but the girl who usually is in the kitchen looked like she didn't know what to do and eventually came over and told me they had no ginger beer to make it so was it alright to use coke. Wasn't the greatest very weak. Finally started getting our meals. My brothers entree parts of the meat or chicken wasn't fully cooked and then his main dish wasn't what he ordered. When we had finished we waited and waited for someone to come and ask us if we were finished. Had leftovers and wanted a container to take them home. Had to go to kitchen to ask for one and let them know that we were leaving and wanted to pay and other customers were waiting to do the same. Unfortunately, the lady in the counter treated us as a burden even though we were the only guests at that time. They did not want to provide enough tables for us simply because they had arranged tables for a dinner booking which was a silly excuse. The waitress was very lazy and rude. We had to squeeze in to a single table. The lamb biriyani was simply a rice inside a lamb gravy. No water to the table and we had to request it. The place was too hot but no AC was switched on even though it was the summer. The food charges are not worth for the cost at all. It needs many improvements. We arrived at the restaurant around 4 PM, just as he had opened, and he kindly informed us that it would take about 30 minutes to set up. Unfortunately, we couldn’t wait that long as we had to catch a ferry from Devonport at 4:30 PM.
We were about to leave when he stopped us and said, “Give me 10 minutes, I’ll do my best.” True to his word, he prepared delicious vegetarian rice and roti in just 15 minutes. It wasn’t just the food that made the experience unforgettable—it was the warmth, effort, and genuine care he showed us.
