Man, I use to have Mr Shabu Shabu all the time. They were normally pretty good. Haven't eaten for a while, and I am working from home, so order them through Deliveroo.
For starters, there was no seperation of my sashimi and my main dish, so my sashimi arrived to me hot.
My main dish was the Terikyaki chicken set. It is widly more expensive then what it use to be. The presentation was rather poor and the flavour use to be much better. Also, I note there was a ton of oil in the bottom, so my rice was just swimming in oil :'(
Also, half a liter of miso soup with a set is a ridiculous amount. It only needs to be a cup.
I assume there has been a change of hands and thus my experince. I note other recent reviews speculating the same.
I'll be honest, I am unlikely to order/dine again; there are plenty of Japanese places in Canberra at much better quality for the price...

You want to get ripped off and be served by idiots who can’t cook real Japanese food, then by all means go there willingly. These people where the culinary arts of being taught by real Japanese Chefs do not exist. They have gone through YouTube and other cooking channels to copy and replicate.
It is called Japanese food for a reason, you might as well call it something else, because its damn well not Japanese food for sure! It’s a down-right fake replication. Going to this place that is not authentic breaches the Trade Practices legislation of the state “Misleading Consumers”, so...
Read moreFirst of all, their servings are relatively good, especially the Shabu Shabu hotpot which is absolutely better compared with the similar Japanese cuisines nearby in Canberra. Secondly, the waitress sister is keen and warm, who has an amusing accent of Southerners of Asia. Moreover, she is beautiful for real! However, the only disappointing thing is that the beautiful waitress did not know the true meaning of 'wasabi tako'. More specifically, the restaurant misunderstood it with 'tako sashimi with wasabi'. What a pity! Furthermore, I heard Cantonese in their kitchen instead of Japanese. Therefore, it might not be a 100 per cent Japanese restaurant. Couldn't be better than 4...
