Had a lunch 😋 at the Olims Bistro for the first time in decades, walked 🚶‍♂️ 😋 in the place looked so Wonderful 👌. The staff is helpful and friendly, we ordered the food at the Bistro side 😋, and later our food 😋 came. Had Garlic Bread 🍞 Turkish with Cheese 🧀, Soup 🍲 of the day 😋, Ham and Pea soup 🍲, and Chicken 🐔 Burger 🍔 and Chips, and with Bangers and Mash and vegetables 😋 👌, a Glass of Lift and Lemonade I. and a Schooner I of Sydney Pale Ale 🍺 . Wonderful place to come here to have lunch or dinner 🍽 at Olims Bistro, they make wonderful dishes 😋 you will come back again and again 😋. Decades ago that I come here for a dance 🕺 at Hotel 🏨 Ainslie and later when I come in age to have my first drink 🍸 😄 😅. During the 1940s the Department of the Interior took over the hotel for public service accommodation. In the 1950s it again became a licensed hotel 🏨. With few clubs in Canberra, the Hotel Ainslie was very busy hosting dancers and weddings 💑 in the 1950s and '60s. 'Politics in the Pub ' was a highlight of the 1980s. University students were major contributors to the prosperity of the Hotel 🏨 in the 1960s, gathering 😀 in the beer 🍺 😀 garden 😀 almost exclusively. The Hotel 🏨 is over 96 years old and has had several times new name changes from 1927 to 1989 called Ainslie Hotel, then 1989 Olims Hotel Canberra, and in 2011 it is now Mercure Canberra.

Located near the iconic Mercure Hotel in Canberra City, there is a charming pub with a welcoming and accommodating staff. They are always responsive, even when I call to inquire about availability and the day's specials. The food served is of exceptional quality and the portions are satisfying. Additionally, the menu includes helpful indicators such as "HC" for Healthy Choice options, making it easier to make health-conscious decisions. Guests can help themselves with utensils and glasses, adding to the relaxed and convenient atmosphere. Despite being a pub, it offers a pleasant and uncrowded dining experience, making it an ideal choice for a weekend evening meal. Electronic card transactions wouldnncir an additional cost.

Olims Bistro is part of the Mercure Braddon Hotel. It was nice to have a food option as hotel guests as there aren't many restaurants in the area. We dined at 7.30pm and the bistro kitchen was busy with orders going to guests in the courtyard attending the jazz/blues gig. Because of this we waited a little while for our food but that was ok. We both ordered chicken schnitzel with two sides and sauce ($27). The portions weren't enormous but we were quite full at the end of our meals. The potato gratin was really yummy. Chicken crumbing was crispy and cooked perfectly. Mushroom sauce was tasty, pepper sauce had some spice kick. Good bistro grub at a reasonable price.

I’m staying at Mercure. I had a Greek Salad at Olims on my first night, which was a plate of chunky chopped green capsicum and I swear the feta was blobs of sour cream! The hotel buffet breakfast is a disgrace, shame on Mercure for allowing this in one of their hotels. All food is cold! I’ve been fronting up at 8am, so not exactly the end of service. Last ditch effort before checking out in the morning, I had the $17 steak special with mash, veg and pepper sauce. They forgot to mash the potatoes, huge lumps, med-well stringy steak arrived in a pool of blood, veg still crunchy and all of it lukewarm. Oh, the pepper sauce, it smelled bad and was the consistency of water, made me 🤢. AND…I was the only person in the restaurant…they were cooking this disgraceful food for ONE PERSON, how hard can it be!!! I actually don’t believe the person/s cooking are qualified chefs, fry cooks at most. DO NOT GO THERE,...
