We chose this place based on the reviews, and it definitely lived up to the hype! The service was excellent, one of the friendly staff members helped us choose our dishes, which made our dinner even more enjoyable. The food was delicious! We ordered the beef on a hot pan, veggie gyoza, and chicken chow mein. The beef was the standout dish, full of flavours and quite spicy, even though we asked for mild, so keep that in mind. Paired with the noodles, the flavor combination was rich and colorful. The total came to $61, and we even had leftovers to take home. Great value for what we got. I’d absolutely recommend this spot to my friends. Just a heads-up: there might be a bit of a wait while your food is being prepared, so come ready to relax.

Coming from Melbourne, I was looking for a good restaurant to eat in Canberra and discovered The East Kitchen. The lady was very friendly and nice to us. We had a great conversation and service was excellent. No need to mention how the food was. Big portion, value for money, very tasty and delicious. We really enjoyed the dinner there. They were about to close but they waited for us until we finished eating. Will definitely go back to the restaurant when we come to Canberra again. Continue prospering in the business, you deserve it..❤️

Truly a hidden gem in Dickson. I’ve got to admit I’ve always given this restaurant a miss because of how quiet it usually is. Lesson learnt - do not judge a book by its cover. We ordered Malaysian Char Kuey Teow, Sweet & Sour Pork, Szechuan Fried Fish Fillets and they were really good. Service by the front of house (Rebecca I think?) was amazing. Rebecca was kind, thoughtful and very friendly. I’m definitely coming back for more authentic Cantonese cuisines. A local business worth supporting!

Come from Melbourne, don't know where to find good food. Then we went here The East Kitchen for dinner last night. Ordered sweet & sour crispy fish fillet & stir fry rice noodle with chicken...yumm!! Love it!!! Forget to take the picture as it was too appetising, love the sweet & sour as it doesn't use bright food colouring as other resto, taste like home! Sweet & sour cook with fresh cucumber, capsicum, & pineapple too! Rice noodle was great, balanced flavours, chicken soft & tender, sprout are fresh! Love in every plates & generous portion.

Don't worry about the building, I know it's old in the middle of new brightly cafe, but it's clean inside, toilet also clean. Don't bother about the quietness in the resto. It's a family resto run by senior couple, were there for more than 20years. Can't make it a fancy resto but quality is certainly high. Owner is the chef himself, yess...only himself & he wants to maintain the quality. He cooks in order to take care every customer, that's why sometimes it takes time when there's few customer. But come earlier if you can't be patient. They have regular customer that keep coming back, but they found it's hard to draw new customer, especially after covid. The location also can't help being not in the centre.

At the moment they're not in third party food delivery, they're still thinking that food should be enjoyed freshly from the kitchen while it's still smokin hot (like my granny would say).

Will definitely go back here next time in Canberra!! So, come & try, you...

Just spent 5 days in Canberra over the new year and on New Year's Day looking to dine out so out comes Google. One suggestion amongst many was The East Kitchen reading the reviews I felt that this place sounded good so off we went. Upon arrival it was clear to see the family staffed restaurant were under the pump all be it a little slow however true to the words of a previous reviewer the staff appologised and admitted they were slow. Who cares, being up front with us however it gave us time to relax and await our meal Lemon Chicken and Singapore noodles the plates were ample sized and big servings. The food was cooked to damn near perfection what a great feed. Totally delicious and one of the best Chinese meals I personal have had. This place is awesome and highly recommended. If you want to eat fast or rushed this is not for you. If you want to sit relax chat and eat awesome tucker this place however is for you. So good we returned the next night greeted by the Chefs sister who recognised us and thanked us for returning for more. We were indecisive on what to eat and here recommendation was the special Teryaki Chicken with Black Pepper in hot pot. Once again this dish with special Fried Rice was amazing and true to her word was deelish. Put this eatery on the must dine here when in Canberra list. You won't be disappointed. Top...

The East Kitchen is a nice place to get some authentic home cooked Chinese grub. It's ran by a couple who really enjoy cooking. The food is tasty. Bbq pork buns take a while to come out but they're worth it, maybe the best buns in Canberra! The Mongolian Beef is a bit spicy to beware, but it was delicious and cooked to perfection. Honey chicken is more authentic than the cookie cutter varieties found in food courts. It's delicious, the batter is amazing, real honey (you can taste it) and the chicken was moist and delicious. No bone, no gristle. The woman who runs the kitchen and front of house is a delight, very friendly and makes an effort to make you smile. We'll definitely be back. The down sides however, the dining room is a little cold due to the door not closing properly, and very sparse. No booths or partitions and cold tile floor in a large open dining room. So not the most comfortable setting, but the food was...
