Partner and I went to Trev's today for a late brunch. Was excited as it was our first "date" since having a baby. First up I will say that the service is great. Staff were friendly and seated us straight away. My partner ordered a pasta dish and he loved it. I ordered the brunch tasting platter and told the waiter that I was a vegetarian so could we please make sure what I ordered was vegetarian. He said that they were and that he would also make a note on my order that these dishes were to be vegetarian as a back up. Food comes and I discovered meat in my dish (as pictured). I wasn't happy but as I had eaten most of my meal I didn't bother telling the wait staff etc. When we went to pay they asked how our food was. I said that there was meat in my vegetarian dish and that whilst I wasn't happy I understand that mistakes happen and it was fine. I said I wouldn't be returning though. The gentlemen apologised profusely and checked my order. After confirming that everything I had ordered was vegetarian and that a special note had also been put on the order he gave us a full refund of the meal. So whilst I did get meat in my dish I can't fault the service at trevs. The meals were good value for money and the ambience is nice for a...
Read moreWe had some friends we wanted to catch-up for long time and decided to go and try Trevs again (not a great memory from the first attempt few years ago, but things change, eh?).
We booked a table online. We were contacted early next morning saying our booking had to be earlier by 30 min. Ok.
I happen to choose one of the options called "French Toast with Creative Combo". Well, the creativity was sweet and full of apple and cinnamon. A mix that I wouldn't ever ask for. My fault, as I didn't ask before, although I believe that anything that uses a strong ingredient such as cinnamon, and if you make something sweet or spur or spicy or savoury should be a bit more specific, not hidden behind a vague term
When I got my order I noticed and asked if that was cinnamon, I was given the "yes, sorry" look but no attempt to remediate the situation. I swapped dishes with my wife.
45min after seating we got the warning "we'll need the table in 15 minutes tops"... So you have 1 hour on the dot, if you stretch and don't care about the looks.
Food was of quality. Staff is pseudo-friendly. Price is reasonable. Service is bad.
If you thinking about s brunch where you can sit, talk and enjoy, I suggest you find...
Read moreDiscovered Trevs through a quick Google search and upon arrival found a simple but welcoming vibe.
Staff are wonderful at explaining the food and meeting the needs of a family. Of course that's reasonably easy to do. What's not easy is producing food of this quality.
Trev clearly has chops as a chef and it shows. The Cigar special was excellent, only enhanced by the red wine reduction and the pizza was flawless. Not a single piece that wasn't devoured.
Halloumi pops a great take on a way to eat Halloumi and the wine list while small is absolutely perfect for the venue. I simply can't fault them.
Update - went in for breakfast today and wow doesn't even begin to describe it. The tasting platter is phenomenal and not to be missed. Add this to your bucket list...
