5/2023 New ownship since 5/2023. Under new management. Same decoration and setting. New head chef. New pizza chef. Similar menu with elevated prices. Indifferent atomphere. Service: not busy as before. Not running very smoothly. Have background music suddenly at 8pm. Not attentive staff. The Male manager always hid (to work) somewhere and only talked with 2-3 tables selectively. The female manager is responsible for giving us a table and the bill. One unskilled waitress gave us tap water with smiles. We kept waiting. In fact, They depend on an other experienced waitress to do most of the work, but unwelcoming face when came to take order from the beginning. --- 5.5/10 Food: the flavor is not as same as before. Not so authentic. Not using adequate ingredients. Garlic Bread, $10/4pcs: inadequate garlic flavor. The edges were so burnt. --- 7/10 Chili Mussels: not served in a deep bowl, so the mussels weren't submerged in the sauce. The sauce was lack of some flavor in depth. Mussel was soft with beard removed. But served with 4 lemon wedges and 4 pcs of bread. The bread was soggy and not well baked. Not provided with an extra bowl for shells. --- 6.5/10 Pappardelle al Ragu D'Angello, $34: it's dry when served. There's a small portion of Lamb Chucks (not chewy). Large portions of cheese on the top. --- 6/10 5/2022 --- 4 stars Environment: bright & cozy, good ambiance. The tables for 2 are not big enough for sharing. --- 7.5/10
Service: always busy. Acceptable slightly longer waiting time for mains. Forget giving us utensils until remind her when first dish is served. Would be better when not fully booked. --- 6.5 - 7/10 depends
I always come here for years. Cancelled my birthday dinner because of sudden lockdown. Unable to use the birthday voucher this year (2021). Food: Normal portion. Reasonable price. Tidy presentation without excessive garnish. Yummy food. My favorite dish is Spaghetti Alla Marinara😋😋. Gamberoni in Tempura, $18.9/4pcs: actually, not tempura batter. Beer-batter was crispy and normal thickness. Prawns were overcooked slightly. 6/10 Garlic Bread, $7.9/4 slices: very crispy. Full of garlic aroma and butter flavor. 👍 Slices were just thinner than before. -- 8.5/10 Fettuccine al Granchio, $31.5: quite a lot of crab meat. Fettuccine was Al dente. 😋 Tiramisu Della Casa, $14.9: very moist, no strawberry for garnish now Chai Latte....
Read moreOn our way in we saw those cheap electric signs saying pizza, we should of taken that as a red flag as to what turned out to be a very disappointing evening.
The service was good and they were pretty nice.
We started of with a pizza and muscles for entree and it was very disappointing. The pizza was very average and tasted/looked like it came out of a box. The muscles were cooked okay but the sauce was horrible. It tasted like it came out of a jar. The dish was called “chilli” muscles but it was not even the slightest bit spicy and had no flavour. The muscles came with bread which was stale and gross. These dishes were very overpriced being over $25 each.
For our drinks we got 2 cokes and tried the Cinderella and another mock tail. The mock tails were both $8.50 each and tasted like water with a bit of flavour.
For our main we ordered the seafood pasta, calamari and gnocchi. The seafood pasta was the same “jar” tomato sauce and had zero flavour, was very bland. I couldn’t find one piece of crab in it and the squid was rubbery. The calamari came with fries and coleslaw. The calamari had no flavour and the only flavour it had was a lot of salt. The fries were cold and soggy and was the opposite to the squid with no salt. The coleslaw was absolutely horrible it had big chunks of onions and the “dressing” if you can even call it that was straight mayonnaise. The gnocchi was very small serve and had zero flavour and was just horrible the only “flavour” it had was the little sprinkle of Parmesan cheese in the middle.
Overall the service was good but the food was horrible. Everything was way overpriced and very bland. Will never go back and do not recommend. Was not...
Read moreWe've walked past this local Italian many times before we decided to give it a go. From the outside it looked like it could go either way but menu was promising. My partner and I decided to try it on Thursday evening for a dinner. Long story short, my crab pasta promised ingredients which could not be identified on a plate such as chili and basil. Tagliatelle was overcooked and whole sauce smelled very fishy, sauce was thick tomato which I wouldn't describe as the menu did (EVOO, chili, garlic, tomato and basil). Bread (pane di cassa) was unfortunately stale - at least 2 days old with distinctive white dots forming, no crunch to the crust or softness to the center. Very disappointing. Let's say you'd barely eat this at home if you had no options left. Gnocchi were fresh but slightly undercooked, sauce again lacking complexity. Wine recommendation and service was on the other hand lovely. Inspired by the desert menu were decided to give them a chance. My issue was mostly that the menu advertises 'Authentic Italian gelato' yet in the gelato display you can see tubs of Peter's icecream. I think with all the lovely gelato makers around Perth they could step up the game. I opted for panacotta with stewed figs. This was definitely a much closer to the menu description than the pasta, however, one ingredient - cinnamon didn't make it to the plate again. Overall - ok local for parmi night and beer. Nice enough service and well intended menu, if only they hired a slightly more competent chef.. 3/5 for now. Will go back for pizza and...
