The Calzone was one of the best I've ever eaten!

I came here with my husband for our 2 year wedding anniversary. I was a bit scared because I don't always like to try new places on special occasions, because you never know what you're going to get. We were pleasantly surprised by our starters...the Calzones! It was AMAZING! Would definitely go back just for that. Our mains were amazing aswell. We had a pasta and pizza, it was delicious. The reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 3, is because of how good the food was (especially the Calzone) Unfortunately the service and wait time for food wasn't the best. I'm not sure if it's a family owned restaurant but it looked like it, I could be wrong though. The waiter wasn't rude, but he also wasn't very friendly. And the wait times...it was probably the longest my husband and I have ever sat in a restaurant. The waiter kept forgetting to take our order and bring us things we asked for. I did feel sorry for everyone working because the place was packed but there didn't seem to be a lot of staff on duty. However as I said, I think we were in the restaurant for almost 4 hours, which was extremely long for us, as we usually stay in a restaurant for 1.5 hours. It took ages for the waiter to actually take our order, then ages for the starter to come out, we waited a long time for the food, then it took a while for the waiter to come back so we could order dessert, etc. All in all, I would love to come back...maybe when they aren't so busy and give them...

Authentic Italian Pizza Heaven in Perth!

If you’re craving true Italian pizza in Perth, look no further than Maruzzella Restaurant. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warm hospitality that feels like stepping into a family trattoria in Naples. The atmosphere is relaxed yet elegant, making it perfect for a casual lunch, a romantic dinner, or a celebration with friends.

The pizzas here are nothing short of exceptional – thin, wood-fired bases with just the right balance of crispness and chew, topped with the freshest ingredients. You can taste the quality in every bite. The Margherita is a must-try for purists – simple, yet bursting with flavour – and if you want something more adventurous, the Prosciutto e Rucola is divine.

What makes Maruzzella stand out is their commitment to authenticity. The tomato sauce tastes like it’s been made from sun-ripened Italian tomatoes, the mozzarella is creamy and perfectly melted, and the toppings are always generous without overpowering the base.

Service is attentive without being intrusive – the staff clearly love what they do, and they’re happy to recommend dishes or wine pairings. Speaking of wine, their selection of Italian reds and whites is fantastic, and pairs beautifully with the pizzas and pastas on offer.

Whether you’re a pizza aficionado or just someone who appreciates great food made with love, Maruzzella Restaurant delivers a truly memorable dining experience. It’s a slice of Italy right...

For the drinks: we tried local beer; Little Creatures Amber Ale & Pale Ale 🍺 and they're super refreshing.

For starters, we chose Chilli Mussels. Dipping the bread into the sauce is a must! The slightly crispy breads soaked on the umami tomato sauce, and enjoy it with the fresh mussels.

Margherita Pizza (tomato base) and Portofino Pizza (white base) are next. The base dough was not too thick but not too thin. The toppings were moist and well seasoned.

The main courses were: Cannelloni Beef Cheek - came fresh from the oven, the cast iron serving dish was still hot. Risotto Gamberi - umami & rich in flavor Gnocchi Carbonara - creamy, chewy gnocchi

All was yummy, and i definitely recommend this resto to everyone visiting Perth. I personally also will come back here. The chef was Italian, made the pizza freshly (the pizza area was open, and he was speaking Italian)

But our dining experience there were not perfect, we ordered a seafood spaghetti, and it was not in the list of our order. We had to confirm a few times to different waitress until we found out, that dish wasn't in the order. Then, we had to wait for a long time for it to come. Everyone already finish their meals and still have to wait for the 'unordered' pasta to be made. That's why i could give good rating for the service.

Suggestion: Make sure for the waitress to repeat the order correctly when...

Wow, if we had a place like this back home I would be 500lbs. Keeping in mind, we only ordered 4 things on the menu, but I can tell that the whole menu is to die for. Every dish that I saw coming out of the kitchen looked like something that I would want to eat. It feels like good honest cooking, put together with very little fuss and fluff. The portions are more than generous. We had the Calzone Napoletana, the Fettuccine al Ragù di Agnello , the Cannelloni with Beef Cheek and the Panna Cotta. The Calzone was so good, stuffed full with meats and topped with the creamy mozza. The caramelised exterior was really crunchy, but the dough was soft and inviting. The Fettuccine was a really nice al dente and the lamb shoulder was so soft that it came apart under the pressure of the spoon. I would order this again in a heartbeat. It felt like a grandmother running her hand through your hair. The beef cheek was so satisfying. The filling was cooked down to an impossibly hearty sauce. Every mouthful was the taste of family dinner. The only regret was that we didn't order garlic bread to mop up the sauce. Finally the Panna Cotta was the perfect wobble. Strawberry and vanilla, was the classic winning pairing. The creamy, the sweet and the tart was the gastronomic equivalent of pitch perfect. I cannot recommend eating here enough.

Neapolitan and professional, I saw from the first photo and at the sight of the menu that I would not be disappointed by the quality of this restaurant. But they ended up surprising me anyway. At Maruzzella, we find products traditionally difficult to find outside of Italy and I know something about it, I had a pizzeria in France (although neighboring). What this restaurant does is a real feat, nothing is left to chance, even the oven comes from Italy, it comes from a famous brand known to professionals. Attentive service, wise advice on wine from the boss, limoncello offered. As for the pizza we are on "Impasto tipo verace" with the ideal texture, crunchy and cloudy at the same time, excellent cooking and the dough with the right maturation, as I like it. A huge congratulations to the team. I would never have guessed to be outside Naples if I had been blindfolded. My friend has finally found a tiramisu worthy of the name, she who despaired of finding one as good as those she found in Firenze. It's flawless, I just have to come back and do the rest of the menu. Grazie e a presto
