Little Ying Thai — Restaurant in East Victoria Park

The food was amazing!! Loved the restaurant environment and mood. The food brought us back to thailand, and its so authentic. The waitperson however, was very very rude and arrogant. Its not the first time My family and I have dined in little ying thai. Tonight, I booked it at 8:15pm and we didnt have enough, so we wanted to order more, the waitperson (the one with long hair, and skinny), was not happy to take more orders. She let a big sigh and had very angry face. The food landed on the table with a throw and a bang. Towards the end, when we wanted to pay, I asked what was the prices listed on the bill is for, as it didnt specify the name of the dishes, she didnt give me an answer but re did the receipt and added extra $20.90, with attitude. If this was done with an apology and a friendly manner, it wouldn't have come off rude. When told how grumpy she looks, she said she is the only staff member there. So I understand, it is not her fault, but the management needs to have extra staff to help her there. Just had one of the worst dining experiences of my life. Booked ahead but should not have bothered because when I arrived I waited ages to speak to someone who pointed at a table which was stolen by a random walk in whilst the waitress pointed to it. I thought she would intervene but didn’t. I then watched some other customer behind me sit down and just take the table and the waitress did nothing. They then said take the table next to the door which was so cold and drafty. I then waited over 40 minutes before someone even came to take our order. Then a further 30 minutes before I received our food. This was truly THE worst service and dining experience of my life. Food was pretty tasty but nothing special. Stopped by here for dinner. Came without reservation to a fairly packed restaurant and they were happy to seat us on a table though it needs to be cleared within 1 hour. I said “as long as the food comes out fast”.. and the waiter smiled with assurance. So in we go!

Waiter was prompt in bringing us water, cutleries, menu. Made our order within few minutes and about 10-15 minutes later our foods have arrived. Pretty quick!

We tried the Som Tam, Pad Ka Pow and Pad Thai. All tasted nice and authentic. And they were all priced very reasonably.

Place is also really nice. Great vibe! Will definitely return to try other dishes here.

UPDATE: Returned on separate day to try their Barramundi fillets with 3 flavours sauce and the Grilled Pork. The Fillets were nicely cooked, sauce was nice but very heavy.
