Highest rated place on Google Maps, so we decided to give it a try.

The staff were friendly and helpful—5 stars to them. However, the overall experience didn't meet my expectations given the 4.4-star rating and the high prices. My expectations were quite high.

Fish: The fish doesn't come with any sides, and it's priced at the upper end of the restaurant spectrum, so I evaluated it accordingly. Our battered Snapper was overcooked; the meat was mushy, and the batter was dripping oil even after a few minutes of resting. The serving size was surprisingly small for the price—3 stars.

Grilled Cod: The grilled breaksea cod was tasty but also seemed a bit overdone. The portion was small, fitting into the palm of my hand—3 stars.

Chips: The chips were fine, but the portion size was very small compared to other cafes and restaurants—3 stars.

Onion Rings: The onion rings were crisp, but too oily. For $12, I expected something more special—2 stars.

Dipping Sauces: The dipping sauces were tasty, homemade, and definitely helped complement the fish, chips, and onion rings—4.5 stars.

The staff mentioned that the fish portions were 150 grams. I hadn't realized how small that was until I received the food. Such meager servings of fish might be more acceptable if they were resting on a generous portion of chips. Unfortunately, the chips are an extra charge and disappointingly small in proportion.

Overall: The prices were far too high for food that, in my experience, was on par with or even below the standard of most other fish and chip shops, restaurants, or cafes I've visited. I hope they can improve and eventually live up to the hype. I'm sorry to leave such a critical review, but I was severely...

We just left few minutes ago. We have the receipt as shown in the picture, and the picture of the food. We've never been in this place before so when we entered the restaurant, we started lining up just as everyone was doing. The blonde lady with a short bob cut hair took our order and asked us if we were dining in TWICE, and we told her that we're dining in. We've been sitting for 20 minutes, and we sat on a table where there WEREN'T any reserved signs. The lady went back and told us that she already got our food on the counter and it's been sitting there for a long time. She also mentioned that they're all booked up and couldn't let us sit and eat in. We were essentially kicked out of the restaurant. She mentioned that she charged us with "take away" price rate for our food but we looked on our receipt and it was the full sit in price. Why would she say that if there's a price difference with the take away vs dining in? Also, the grilled octopus we ordered included red wine according to the description on the board, but we didn't get any wine even though we were charged for the full amount ($15.50). The food is now cold and we didn't even have utensils included. This is...

Ok so I’ve just signed up with a google account for the first time. I wouldn’t normally bother with making a complaint but after the tiny amount of absolute disgusting food I’ve just paid $64 for, I feel upset, silly and totally ripped off. I read the reviews online earlier tonight and I now have no doubt that the reviews for “fish face” are misleading and likely posted by friends of the owner. The $14 local snapper tasted terrible and was more like a fish finger from the supermarket, the $8 fish plate was basically battered bait! The $2 Chips I counted 14 bloody chips! The $32 for a doz. oysters kilpatric were absolutely the most pathetic raw and sickening attempt of the dish I have ever been served. I’m yet to try the $8 salad. I know this sounds harsh but I’m obviously angry. I’ve only posted this in an attempt to get this shop to pull their fish heads in and serve edible food, especially for the price they pay. Of course I have called them prior and voiced my...

Was recommended by a friend and called in for dinner tonight. I had the $36 Fish Special. Grouper on silky mash and honey carrots. Is in the middle of the blackboard photo. Just wow and easily in my top 3 of fresh fish meals ever. Good sized serving of Grouper and presentation was beautiful, but flavour was even better. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of my plate. Went back and got the Grouper a few days later, and picture attached. The owner recommended the Fish Curry last time I was there and back for that this week. Cannot fault this curry at all. Lots of nice sized pieces of fish in a lovely curry sauce and not overpowering the flavour of the fish. Happy to recommend this dish also. Do yourself a favour and eat here. I will definitely be going back for another meal.
