5-Star Dining Experience at Eljays Restaurant!

I visited Eljays Restaurant on February 5, 2025, at 7:00 PM, and was thoroughly impressed with the exceptional service. The staff were professional, attentive, and responsive to every request, making our dine-in experience truly unforgettable.

The food was outstanding! We ordered the Bruschetta, 300g Porterhouse Steak, and Chicken Parmesan, and each dish exceeded our expectations.

The restaurant's atmosphere was clean, tidy, and welcoming. I firmly believe Eljays Restaurant is one of the best in Esperance for its style.

What truly sets them apart, however, is the friendly and approachable staff. Their warm smiles and enthusiasm made a significant difference to our overall experience.

Key point: Over priced and over cooked food in a warm and friendly pub. The appearance and atmosphere of this restaurant was fine when we attended on a cool Monday night. Nothing fancy, but the dining area is well lit, clean and tidy in a warm and friendly environment. Unfortunately the food doesn’t match the same standard. We ordered steak and lamb, which were both over cooked. The menu stated the lamb came with a pumpkin puree and seasonal vegetables as a side, however, I was served less than a tablespoon worth of the orange mash underneath four brussel sprouts. The puree was quite tasty and the sprouts were cooked to perfection but the ‘jus’ was a little too sweet and the lamb was cooked beyond well-done. We asked for the steak to be rare but it was also over-cooked and the honey taste in the ‘jus’ didn’t match the dish. The meat itself looked like a magnificent cut so it’s unfortunate the kitchen couldn’t manage a steak. Extremely disappointed.

Looked at the menu online and it looked like a nice place to have a meal. Staff were friendly and attentive all night, but the nail on the head was waiting 70 minutes for our mains and once the food arrived it was incredibly disappointing in quality/taste. Had the lamb rack which was tiny and overcooked, this dish was $43!!! More than happy to to pay a premium for good food but this was NOT worth that amount of money.

My partner had the T-bone steak which he was happy with, but it came out lukewarm and the sauce was stone cold.

Appeared the manager was sitting down having dinner with some of their friends as well, running into the kitchen and sitting back to dinner all night which felt incredibly unprofessional. This place absolutely screamed Kitchen Nightmares!
