The Murchison Tavern — Restaurant in Geraldton

We (4 patrons) went here for lunch this week, when we arrived decided to order entree, thinking it would arrive at the table whilst we decided on our mains. We waited about 20 minutes and still no entree at the table. We placed our main orders and sat back down in the dining room, only 6 tables had seated patrons, thinking oh surely it can’t be much longer. What do you know…. Our mains started to be delivered to the table, yet the entree (1dozen oysters) must have still been in the ocean. We asked the waitress where the entree was with very little detail provided. You guessed it, all the mains delivered and then the entree arrives at the table. To state a level of disappointment would be an understatement. It would’ve been all justified if the meals were exceptional however they weren’t anything to write home about, only a review on here. It was a balmy warm (38degrees) weekday at and the air conditioner was on, but not operating all that well, with all the doors open, making it for an unpleasant dining experience. The service this local business offers is below average at best. Their Menulog ordering says wait time “ 25-30 minutes “ we placed the order at 6:34pm then had a message pop up “ ETA 7:40pm-8:00pm waited until 8:20pm with no message, update, phone call or notification, I then sent a messaging asking if there was an update and got an update of “ 9:05pm “ when I phoned at 8:44pm I was answered to by a rude lady who said “ we are busy “ to which I asked “ I’ve had this happen 3 times previously & been understanding but it isn’t acceptable anymore “ she then without hesitation said “ it hasn’t even started to cook yet do you want me to tell the kitchen to just cancel it “ They as yet 9:31pm haven’t cancelled the order or refunded me anything. My prior experience’s with this business have been less then acceptable, I was given a voucher because my chicken parmy wasn’t cooked properly over 12 months ago but I believe in 2nd and apparently 3rd chances. Do not order online. First attempt was missing items from our order. Second time waited over 3 hours, once again missing veggies. With two calls in between, telling us our order was on the way, only to call 1.5 hours later asking where it was to be to told it was on its way when it wasn't was horrible. Order came and surprise, surprise it was someone else's order. They came back picked up wrong order and waited another hour for correct order. Third time same situation. Waited over a year and thought will give them another go, would rather support local businesses than not. Once again missing items from our order. The biggest slap in the cheek, ordered Bruschetta at $16 advertised as two pieces. I received one tiny piece from the end of bread & a couple of cherry tomatoes with fetta in a container. Staff and management couldn't care less. Have ordered from other local businesses and will continue to do so as standards are so much higher. It's no wonder the venue is always so empty with managements level...
