I hate the term "Hidden Gem" because it's so overused... but this cafe fits it to a "T".
We almost did not find Clay Coffee, because it's nestled through a little alleyway in a small courtyard. I am so glad we DID find it, because the coffee is fantastic, really really good. And the stoneware cups are something I didn't even realise I needed in my life until now.
We came for coffee, not food, but being me I couldn't pass up the savoury muffin behind the glass pastry case. It was DELICIOUS, I mean, stupidly good... and I kicked myself for not at least inquiring for a recipe or hint of some kind as to how I can make it myself at home.

CLAY Coffee Collective is aptly named, for the cafe showcases a range of ceramics stacked up high as decor and each coffee ordered is served is a ceramic cup. We hear that the clay is care of Brigita Hammel, an Australian artist.
The cafe can be found in a narrow alley of the main strip of shops in Gerringong. A small cafe with a few seats inside, we find the atmosphere a little dark and dim, so could be lit up a bit.
They use Delano Specialty coffee, and on this occasion was the Maverick Blend, a good combination of acidity and sweet. Certainly best coffee in Gerringong. There’s milk based, filter, black and cold options. Not much in the way of food, just toast, granola...

A very artsy style cafe with modest amount of seating indoors and outside in the little courtyard area.
Coffee is served in handmade clay cups which is where the cafe gets its name. The coffee is really well executed.
The food selection is limited so it’s more of a cuppa with friends than a lunch destination.
