Better than expected Vietnamese restaurant in the heart of Gisborne. The selection on the menu is authentic Vietnamese and there are many choices. The food was fabulous, fresh and full of traditional flavours. Unfortunately we all started the dishes before taking pics. The Pho was delicious as was the flat rice noodle in egg sauce combination. The one thing that let the place down was the service - it was slow and the ā€œkidsā€ serving did not know the difference from a white wine to a red wine. A little training would assist the service levels and their confidence.

Went for a light lunch, I had a banh mi (crispy pork roll) and my partner had satay chicken skewers and rotti with penut sauce.. banh mi was average, chicken skewers were a bit dry and the penut sauce was average to (tasted like melted penut butter) not to mention there was only enough for half the rotti, pretty poor when your charging $9 for a bit of bread and sauce.. service wasnt to good either, when asked what we would like to drink i replied water and was pointed to the water to serve myself.

If you want to waste time and money on a Banh Mi then this is the place to go. Ordered a crispy pork roll and was handed back the below roll after a 10 minute wait. Quality is embarrassingly poor. Where is the crispy pork? There was 5 pieces of meat, none as per the order (crackling). No chilli, barely any pate or butter and it was very dry. Basically 5 pieces of pork shoved in a hot dog bun. I would not recommend.

I have been here quite a few times for Pho and thoroughly enjoyed it. However, I recently visited for another bowl of Pho and as per usual I was very clear with the server that I did not want any ā€˜toppings’ on my soup - Including onions, spring onions ect. (As I cannot eat onion) His response was ā€˜they come on the side’ - Which is incorrect and I knew this. I tried to tell him but the server was not interested in actually listening to me.

He then proceeded to bring me a bowl of Pho absolutely covered in both spring onion & raw onion. I sent the bowl back and asked again, please with no toppings. He took the bowl into the kitchen ā€˜removed’ what he could then brought me back the exact same bowl. I’m both very annoyed that I was dismissed and ignored when ordering initially , but also incredibly disgusted that he brought back the exact same bowl - Despite this being his mistake to begin with. I found multiple pieces of raw onion after only a few spoonfuls of my meal. I was unable to eat the meal and am super disappointed in how I was treated. I will not...

Ordered something when this place first opened and it was a fiasco so blacklisted for a few years but then went back on the recommendation of a neighbour who revealed it was actually Vietnamese which I didn’t even know! Since then the place has won me back over. I like the decor inside, and makes you feel like you’re in a genuine Vietnamese style eatery. The food is a little pricey although I can’t say I am ever that disappointed, and Always walk away satisfied. Beers cheap although many not in stock. No affordable kids options is a shame. A kids size fried rice for example would be nice....

Have been here a few times before, found the food good.

This time ordered seafood traditional noodles.

YUk. Sauce had congealed into almost jam consistently, one of each type of seafood, grated carrot, some peanuts and greens sitting on top. The sauce was so congealed it couldn't be mixed in the noodles. I ate the seafood and look left the rest in disgust.

I've lived in Vietnam in the past and know good and bad traditional Vietnamese food.

This was bad.

Shocked the cook even thought this was ok to give a paying customer. At around $21, it wasn't worth $2.10.

Won't be back.

Very...
