BMD Northcliffe Surf Club — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

Made booking and arrived on time at 9am o n Sunday. Advised we have to vacate table by 1030 so they can get table ready for lunch.Lined up for food 910. Paid for order 925am. Sign up saying 40 minute wait.after 40 minutes went to counter to check on our order. At this point I was quiet and polite. Told in an abrupt way that I had been advised on arrival there would be a forty minute wait. That our order would be there shortly. Another 10 minute wait and I went to counter to ask if our order had perhaps been given to someone else. Again I was quiet and more polite than staff. Told that everyone had to wait. Another 10 minutes went to counter and said can I please get an apology for the wait! Should not have had to ask! Surely the least staff could do would be to apologise for the wait instead of a lecture and finally a sarcastic apology. So 90 minutes to get 4 breakfasts! Eggs! Food arrived at the time we had been instructed to leave! we did not order steak! No one even saif when they delivered food sorry for wait or told us we did not have to leave! Rude staff slow service. Much better at telling customers off than doing their job! Put a damper on our Father’s Day! Did not eat food too upset. We were not the only ones upset with the place but most people don’t bother to write reviews. Be aware of this. One bad review equates to many unhappy customers. I don’t honk they care there are so many tourists going there for views they can treat customers...

We walked in here for dinner & were greeted pretty coldly. We were sat & told we had a 1.5hour dining window - ok no worries! We ordered a bottle of moet ice - which on the menu clearly states it is served with fruit (that way it should be) The Moët comes & it does not include the fruit … so we ask very nicely if we can get some fruit & the waiter was taken aback & offered only oranges & strawberries (or lemon and lime - in champagne? No thanks) I order our meals & the lady can hardly muster a smile - ok, must be having a bad day (kitchen had only JUST opened though..) Entrees come out relatively quickly, we then get 1 random meal - similar to what we ordered but with different sauce. This was NOT our meal but for the table behind us. The table behind us waits and waits for their meal … we get the 2 other meals 5 mins after this meal and tell the waiter that this is not ours and is for the table behind us but my friend tells the waiter that she HAS touched the food and eaten some chips … the waiter takes the meal, goes back to the kitchen and delivers the EXACT SAME MEAL to the table behind us … the touched meal that should have been made fresh. The whole dining experience was terrible for us - we watched staff wander around not knowing what was going on. There was also a party or something happening and the staff were POPPING THE BALLOONS for some reason making so much noise. Why? We left shortly after - not finishing our meals. We wouldn’t come back...

Really busy place, we went for Saturday lunch and the place was heaving 😄. So we were very happy they found us a table for 3 not to far from the windows. As the view is awesome (so if you want a table next to the window then book in advance). My only real gripe is having to order your drinks separately from your food at a different place, hence my 4 stars instead of 5. It means you have to queue up twice. I am not sure why they can't take your drink order with your food order? Anyway after queueing up twice (the food actually came out before we had placed our drink order, just to give you an idea of how long the queues can be 🙂). But the food once ordered came out super fast it was well priced and a really good size meal (very tasty as well). My other half could not finish her S&P squid and said she should've ordered the entrée size. My kid had the kiddies cheese burger combo and couldn't finish all the chips etc... but had room for the gelato scoop at the end 😄. We go here quite often when we holiday in the GC, most often for brekkie. So we will be back. Note this place I think is better value than the Surfers Paradise surf life savers club further down the road I.e. near Cavil Road. Just my opinion, both do excellent food just Northcliffe is a bit cheaper and meals seem to be...
